Ginger Baker was good tonight!

Especially since he just got out of the hospital 2 weeks ago for pneumonia. He will be at BB King's in NYC tomorrow night too. Good show!

what did he play?

#1, I'm in shock that Ginger is still alive.
Even more in shock that Ginger is still playing, and playing well.
I'd love to hear him, he's been through the Bay area a couple of times in the last two years but I missed them.

I think that his band is called Ginger Baker's Jazz Confusion.
He played on a big kit with PeeWee Ellis, a super jazz saxaphonist, a guy from England who he called his favorite bass player (son on Cleo Lane?) and a drummer from Ghana who comes from a historic drumming family. He was promoting his new album "Why?".
He did a fair amount of talking but was quite winded .When the crowd shouted out "Toad" he responded by saying that Toad was a drum solo and that he was doing drum solos all night, that he moves forward and doesn't do Cream songs, and what difference does it make if the solo is called Toad or Humpty Dumpty. He had to be helped off the stage during set break and after the encore but he really gave it his all. I don't like jazz but really dug the music of this band.

I saw him in Albany,Ny Tuesday..He put on a hell of a show, was having trouble with his health no doubt,he had to be walked off stage, but when he puts the drum sticks in his hands ,he was magical...He recently was in the ICU he said.
