On other forums besides having an email notification option, when you log in you get a notification at the top of the page, like this...

User Control Panel (2 new messages) • View your posts Logout [ ooogie ]

Very hard to contact peeps on the site if they don't routinely check their PM's.
I just checked and had one from October 3. 😮

They used to have a notification at the bottom left for new PMs... just above the spot where "Privacy | Terms of Service" is located now. As long as you were logged in that box was there on every HTW page you went to. It ran actively/continuously for each logged-in user and would show how many new messages you had (incl. a "0" if none). Apparently the feature was resource intensive though and when the servers started crashing during Beacon runs - after the interwebs really took off and the Beacon run became much more mainstream and trendy - Rowland removed them to keep this place up and going while he was away (at the Beacon). Want to say back in the 2006 or 07 time frame, give or take 1-2 years on either side of that. And then the feature never returned.

It was also about the time the "Beacon Talk" section of the forums was pulled from Anything Goes and put on its own dedicated server. And the old "General Chat" section (with the now-archived Anything Goes and Whipping Post) was archived and rebooted with the brand new version we have today. Cleaned out the e-basement to get rid of a bunch of junk.

There is a box you can check when posting to the Forum to send you an email notification when there are newer replies in the same thread. Perhaps thinking about having seen that here?

I used to sign up to receive vines until postage rates to Canada tripled last year. Now I only sign onto ones that I am sure I will really enjoy. If I wanted an email notification from someone following me on a vine I would make note of it in my reply to the vine.....example : 5. oldblue - PM to #4, Please send email if u follow me !
In your profile settings you can post your email address. If you look at Quinn's posts you will see he offers his email address. It may help, just my 2 cents

Yeah I know what you are referring to, it's subscribing to a thread. That is the same idea but applied to PM'.s I guess I'll just have to check as often as I can. Just getting a bit nervous since I signed up for my first time vine threads.
