GENESIS PREPARING TO ANNOUNCE THEIR REUNION?

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,
If Phil, Mike, and Tony reunite, it will be to play the big hits from their 1980-1993 run, and that is fine. That music is what got them stardom, it got them to stadiums, it is what millions of people want, and i do not fault them for it in any way. They deserve to a do a victory lap, and those fans will enjoy what will be a well-played show, not unlike what the Eagles do, maybe.
My own personal preference is to see either Steve Hackett or The Musical Box play the older stuff very well, and play it in small, amazing-sounding theaters.
With Hackett, you get the bonus that he also plays some great solo stuff, and he also changes the songs some, whereas the Musical Box plays them just like the record.
As far as any hope of a big Genesis reunion or an old Genesis reunion, the biggest hope I would have is that somehow, someway, they would record something ambitious in the studio. A concert would have to be greatest hits, and that might end up coming up short. But a creative session in the studio would be so great.
That's how I think of Deep Purple. I love Purple. But at least half their show is greatest hits that I've heard 10 zillion times. I look forward very eagerly to their new studio albums, where I can hear them progress, but I have stopped seeing them live, because it feels like the same old.
I just caught Steve Hackett last week and it was spectacular , second time seeing him , second set was the album “ Selling England By The Pound “ can’t go wrong there .
Steve Hackett is one of the nicest guys that I have ever met in the music industry.
Aside from the "name" factor, there would be little point in a Gabriel Era Reunion. Not enough people know the music and they would just sit and stare.
Also Phil can't do the drumming and that was a big part of their early sound also.
Dates in the UK have been announced, Daryl is mentioned as coming back, Phil's son is gonna be behind the kit, but no mention of Chester. I wonder if they're going with just the one drummer now that Phil isn't splitting duties.
I'd only go to a Collins/Rutherford/Banks show if it was a focus of pre-1982 Genesis music. Duke is my favorite Genesis album. I actually liked wihen Collins sang some of the Gabriel songs.
Ideally, it would be all 5 of them (plus Chester & Daryl if needed), and have Collins & Gabriel share lead vocals. Focus entirely on 1972-1981 music, throw in a couple late 70s Gabriel solo hits.
That tour/setlist would be never happen but would be great great show.
