Anyone else going? It's not Wanee, but it's something. It's especially nice to know south Florida will still get a Jaimoe fix after last month's dumpster fire fest in Boca got canceled.

Also also, hopefully this week Suwanee Music Park will announce the lineup for its April Wanee replacement. I'm intrigued, but cautious. Considering it's only 2 months out, I'm curious if this will be mostly regional acts, like Orange Blossom Jamboree, or if they actually have something a-brewing. Anyone going just out of habit?

Well, we had a little taste of Wanee this weekend. It wasn't really "Wanee" - only a day and a half and no feet in the grass (and it didn't smell like Wanee) but the music was there. It was great to get some Jaimoe and Allman-related music in south-Florida after Sunshine Music Fest skipped this year and the ill-managed Music Jam Production shows imploded.

Friday night opened with Melody Trucks Band. They have gotten MUCH better over the past year. They still sound like too much all at once - three guitars and a harp playing at times. But they are much tighter than I had heard in the past. I would lose the harpist, but my name isn't on the drum kit. But kudos to Melody for putting something together and getting out front on stage.

Next was Jaimoe's North Mississippi All-Stars which is just what it sounds like - Jaimoe's band and the Dickinson Brothers. They meshed really well together, you could tell some of it was being figured out on stage. Luther Dickinson is an excellent guitarist, but I've otherwise not really been a fan of their approach so it was really nice to hear Junior Mack and Jaimoe in the mix. There was an excellent "Dreams" and a "Whipping Post" and a few others.

Way more acts on Saturday. Lee Boys were a lot of fun. North MS All-stars played a nice set outside but didn't exactly convert me. We only stuck around for the first half since Jaimoe's band was the goal. His set was awesome, but Ft Lauderdale during Spring Break just isn't Wanee, so we went back to "camp", i.e., home right before Markus King, whom we've seen several times.

Didn't have our Wanee Family, but it was nice to see some familiar faces and got to chat with Bert Holman briefly. But with no Wanee, maybe that means we will finally make it up to Peach Fest this year...
