For All The Moms

You are often swept under the carpet, often ignored, and ALWAYS taken for granted. Your unconditional love is unlike any other. You're a Mom.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the Moms!

Let us not forget those mothers in the Halfway House for Unwed Mothers.
Perhaps byrd72 can give us an update.

One of the things that I miss from my years of living in Birmingham - besides my mother was the annual MOTHERS AND OTHERS DAY parties that Donna and I would host. It was a combination cook-out and concert (me and my "besties" jammin' all day).
We started having these parties for all of our mothers. Then, we realized that there were a lot of women in our lives who had played huge parts in our growing up and becoming who we are. A lot of these women (like my dear aunt Pat) either never married or never had children, yet they provided many of the life lessons that helped to make us into decent folks.
The "mothers and others" name - guess that was a Zappa album that we all enjoyed. But the name worked, so we repurposed it.
Yeah, mine and Donna's mothers have both passed on, but we honor them (and all the OTHERS) today. Just returned from the Jekyll Island Club Hotel where we took dear auntie Pat for the Mother's Day buffet. Man! Did I over-eat!
"Mothers and Others". Thanks to all the women who bore us into this world and fed, clothed, sheltered us and taught us all those important life lessons. Thanks to all the school teachers, aunts, sisters and friends who provided their own input and influence.
If you're fortunate enough to still have a mother in your life, why not take a moment today to make a phone call or a visit?

Well said Rusty,
Happy Mother's Day
to all that it applies to.
