Just had that thing happen where you finally make out a lyric after hearing it your whole life, and never knew you didnt know it...

And lord, your neighbors, no they won't be
Talking that stuff that they don't know.

from One Way Out. Never occurred to me that I had zero clue what Gregg was actually saying - just listened to the vox sound like it was any other instrument.

That ever happen to anyone?

On Waiting for Columbus by Little Feat (one of my all time favs for a long time) Lowell George calls out something that just didn’t register for years and one day it clicked he says “Tower of Power Horns” calling out the horn section that jammed with them on that album. It sounds obvious to me now, but for years me and some friends couldn’t tell what he was saying. Kind of similar to what you are getting at. Also am a big Pearl Jam fan and really need to read the lyrics to some of those tunes to know what Ed Ved is actually saying 🙂

also from Waiting for Columbus
in Dixie Chicken, 3rd verse, I thought he said
"I chance to meet a bartender, who said he knew her well
and as an added misery , he began to hum a song..."

it was only whey I heard Phish cover the album a few years ago, did I get the correct lyric
"and as he handed me a drink,''
the real lyric makes much more sense
