Wonder when Lego is going to come out with a Marilyn Monroe Lego set. That would look good on my mantle!

The Fender Stratocaster according to an article I read years ago was created for western swing, country and rockabilly music. It's revolutionary design I think largely came from Dick Dale whom Leo Fender ask to sculp it so it is comfortable to hold and play. Mark Knopfler and David Gilmore have said it is the most pleasing guitar design ever and nobody has improved on it's design and shape since 1954.

But the guitar with single coil stock pickups was a bit thin for rock and blues. Jimi Hendrix did more to make the Strat the all time best seller by using the whammy bar in an outrageous and unorthodox way and feedback and extremely LOUD amps.

Unlike most Gibson guitars, the best sounding Strats to me are the ones that have been tinkered with and modified.

This Strat has the best tone of any Strat I've ever heard and indeed with the exception of Dickey's Les Paul Goldtop "Goldie" has the best tone of ANY electric guitar I've ever heard. Jimmy Herring ordered it from the Fender Custom Shop and it is REALLY something. A great guitar and magnificent tone!!

Here is another Strat with killer tone. Looks like single coils but it has to be modified or it's the amp.

This Strat probably isn't modified. Probably stock single coils. I saw Jimi who apparently is the best rock guitarist we've had according to many different poles. I saw Jimi in 1968 and his amp WAS SO LOUD!!!!!!! SO LOUD!!! that he could have used whatever the thinnish tone pickups made and it would be a FAT tone. This guitar wasn't designed for this kind of music.  Someone who worked for Fender saw Hendrix and called Leo and told him about this wild, loud and outrageous way to play the Stratocaster. He said it's way out there and insane but if he becomes famous we are going to sell a bunch of guitars but played way different than you envisioned. This ain't Dick Dale, Buddy Holly or The Ventures. This is from another place completely!!
