Favorite Holiday Songs By Rock And/Or Pop Bands

I have a bunch. Bob Seger's Little Drummer Boy, Bruce's Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Merry Christmas Baby, Adam Sandler's Hanukkah Song, Peggy Lee's Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, Dan Fogelberg's Same Old Lang Syne (kind of an obscure one), and many more.
But my all time favorite by far is Emerson Lake & Palmer's "I Believe in Father Christmas".
I love holiday music. I imagine some here might have some favorites.

I love Christmas music too! So many to choose.
Tinsley Ellis's Santa Claus Wants Some Lovin

I like the Tom Petty song Its XMAS All Over Again

The older I get the more I like Have A Holly Jolly Christmas by actor Burel Ives. Brenda Lee Rocking Around the Christmas Tree. The Eagles have a bells will be ringing song I hear a lot on radio this year. Sounds like Henley singing. Wasted Words from Brothers and Sisters is the only ABB song I can think of. Every other Christmas I practice good behavior.

The Pogues - Fairytale Of New York
RIP Kirsty MacColl

I guess Eartha Kitt's version of Santa Baby doesn't fit the category, but I like Madonna's cheesy 1987 rendition.

Mariah’s Christmas album is by far my favorite.
Also really like Bryan Adams’ “Christmas Time”.
STEVIE WONDER!!!!

My favorite is Father Christmas by The Kinks

"Christmas Blues" Canned Heat
"Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

Bowie and Bing: Peace on Earth / Little Drummer Boy may be all-time favorite Christmas song
Kinks - Father Christmas favorite Xmas rocker
They used to play rock Christmas songs on the heyday of AOR FM rock radio than you hear today.

This is pretty cool - soulful.

But my all time favorite by far is Emerson Lake & Palmer's "I Believe in Father Christmas".
Greg Lake sure wrote some beautiful songs.

Some good ones on here. I had forgotten about Father Xmas by The Kinks. Great one. Bryan Adams Christmas Time is another. And who can think of Xmas without Burl Ives?
One not yet mentioned is Happy Xmas (Was is Over) by Lennon. And I also love Melissa Etheridge's take on it.
Skynyrd put out a good CD in the late 90s that has some good stuff on it.
When I was a kid my mom played a lot of Johnny Mathis Xmas tunes. Always liked those.

Of course, the Beach Boys "Little St. Nick". Their original Christmas album has some stunning vocal harmonies on several traditional carols.

And Bob Dylan does a great version/video of this.

Chuck Berry's Merry Christmas Baby
Also his Run Rudolph Run -- same guitar intro that kicked off so many of his timeless songs

Long ago there was a CD titled "A Very Special Christmas". Proceeds from the sale benefitted Special Olympics. A lot of good stuff on there. It still gets a lot of play in our house every Christmas. Several more volumes were made after this, but the first is still our favorite.

Excellent ! Thanks for the recommend, listening now

"Do they know it's Christmastime at all"
Band Aid 1984

Wonderful Christmastime - I read that McCartney earns $400k a year in royalty from this song. Merry Christmas!

Overall I pretty much detest ANY Christmas music, ESPECIALLY the traditional stuff.
The lone exception I can think of is a record that saxophonist Hank Crawford released way back in 1972 called "We Got A Good Thing Going". It's not a XMAS record, but he does The Christmas Song (Mel Torme) and Winter Wonderland and those two are so good it makes me wonder why he didn't do an entire record of XMAS tunes.

Here's a 2 CD compilation I made years ago, I tried to includes tunes for all ages, It still plays well.
