Favorite Hey Joe versions

A great tune with a lot of great artists playing great versions. Thought we could share some of our favs and maybe I’d find out a new one or two . . .
just heard on the radio Otis Taylor doing a nice rendition which made me think of this.
But, my favorite arrangement is definitely Roy Buchanan. His slower, haunting take on it really captures the essence of the tune for me.
I hear Poppy Chubby’s quite a bit, but it does nothing for me.

How about Gary Moore, Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell?

@porkchopbob Hey I forgot about that one. Wilson's vocals and Duane's guitar are tops.

The first one I ever heard

And that of course reminds me that we also have King Curtis doing it with Duane. Not a favorite version, but it is certainly enjoyable.

What about the Second Coming version with Duane on guitar AND vocals?

I'm curious regarding the three mentioned with Duane. What releases are each of these on? I'm not familiar with any of them.
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

@lee The Second Coming was a live concert after Duane had taken over and everyone in the ABB except Gregg played a few live shows as the Second Coming which in much of Florida was a relatively famous band.
Reese was on keys as Gregg had not arrived from LA yet.

The King Curtis song is on Foot Parton’. Duane plays on several songs with Curtis. Some are on the Duane 7-disc anthology if memory serves correctly.
Duane plays on Curtis’ version of The Weight, which is very similar to Aretha’s version with Duane. I *think* Duane plays on his version of Games People Play too, but I haven’t listened to that in probably 20 years to remember. Duane and King Curtis sounded real nice together.
I’m also pretty sure King Curtis plays Hey Joe on his Fillmore West album. Lots of people love that album, I find it to be fine but not spectacular. I like Curtis’ studio stuff better.
