Eric Clapton

This sounds great, and is on his official page. Hopefully this means we're finally getting an official release from this tour!! A DVD or Blu Ray would be great as well!!

Do you have a link? I could not find anything on his web page.

I think the early to mid 1990s may have been EC's peak. He was really killing it for a few years back then.

Posted by: @allmanfan21@jszfunk Just the one I posted. There's nothing else right now.
Ok, I went to his website and could not find anything about it there.

I have a bootleg video of this seemingly captured from VHS. A proper release would be great.

Don't believe this video is from this classic live recording but it's nice to see them.

WOW. Been waiting for this for over 20 years. It was directed by Scorcese I believe. Right around the release of the 'From the Cradle' blues album in the mid-90s. Some of the best playing of his you will ever see. Plays a variety of strats, 335s, other Gibsons, etc. Up until now it has only been available on VHS I think.

I wonder if this has the version of Layla I have been trying to find for years. I remember imaybe early mid 2000's I saw on tv/video or someplace where he played a different intro version of the prior mentioned song. More of a chord progression variation of the famous intro lick.

No Layla...you can see the setlist here> http://www.geetarz.org/reviews/clapton/nothing-but-the-blues-dvd-remaster.htm
More info here> http://www.geetarz.org/reviews/clapton/index-90s.htm
The show was recorded over a three night run (11/7,11/8, 11/9/1994) at The Fillmore in San Francisco

Here's some official news about the release!!

I remember this as well. If I had to hazard a SWAG, i'd say it was in the late 1990s or early 2000s. It may have not been From the Cradle time frame, but perhaps touring in support of one of the subsequent blues albums like Riding with the King or something. My recollection is he did it when he was otherwise focusing on blues and not rock 'n roll, but Layla is a fan expectation so he kind of blues-i-fied it.
Also, my recollection was that it was a chunky staccato type chords that he played for the introduction. I think it was the verse chords re-voiced almost like power chords. But perhaps I'm misremembering. When you say "chord progression variation of the famous intro lick", do you mean like how he played it on Unplugged? But only electric?

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!!! All of that sounds right on and dead on with your take " chunky staccato type chords that he played for the introduction. I think it was the verse chords re-voiced almost like power chords". I cant remember if it was recorded from a DVD or if I saw it some place. I think it was early 2000's. Pretty sure on that.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

1996 from Hyde Park DVD, 1999 from MSG DVD, 2001 from Live at Budokan Hall in Japan

Craig Thatcher and his band did a fine EC cover show this past Saturday at the Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe, Pa. They really rocked the joint.
