This was great, Black Peter was my favorite song performed. So cool to see the Tiger being played.

Warren is a treasure especially in light of all the legends we have lost. If we lose him it may actually hurt worse than losing Gregg and some many others. Warren is kind of a glue that binds so many of my favorite bands and keeps so much of the music ALIVE. Without him, the live performance of the music of bands like the ABB and Dead will truly be gone IMHO. I hope he takes care of himself, I'd like to see him slim down a bit.

Did anyone tape this? Would love a copy if possible, can trade or B&P or whatever. Amazing show, has circulating on the vines here since last fall, still active FYI

I agree with you. I just finished it, watched the first half the other night. To be quite honest, the show dragged on and on for me. I mean, the very concept of a rock band's music being interpreted by a full orchestra...........really now? And I can't say I've EVER been a big fan of the Dead anyway, although I do appreciate them and they do have some great songs in their catalogue.

Not in ANY way a criticism of Warren, not EVEN. As mentioned, he DID do a fantastic job on this. And in fact, now that Gregg has passed, Warren qualifies as my favorite musician alive. The variety of stuff that he is able to play, and play WELL, is really astonishing. But this show really bored me to tears. Glad I saw it, but it's going to be erased right now.

Saw this at Wolftrap a few years back, Haynes played Wolf, appropriately I guess.

Sounded very nice live. Like the TV show the better stuff was the big pieces like Terrapin.

Also like the TV show I found the strings were mixed too low. I was hoping the TV would bring them up.

Of course not what we are used to but certainly ok for what it is, some iconic Garcia-Hunter compositions given the orchestral treatment.

Looks like symphonic treatment of the Dead isn't everyone's cup of tea. Friend of mine was at this show, said it was stunning. He sent me a recording of it, and it was in constant rotation for a while there. I just didn't try to compare it to the band. It shows how strong their music was that it lends itself so well to classical arrangement, now charted for the ages, timeless Dead.

For anyone interested, here is an incredible symphonic odyssey thru the Dead's music, Russian National Orchestra conducted by Lee Johnson. This is pure instrumental symphony, no rock band, no vox, and not a pops orchestra tribute at all, these are some wild arrangements, takes a while to decipher some of the songs:
