Duane Trucks to Fill In for Todd Nance on Widespread Panic Fall Tour

Widespread Panic have revealed that drummer Todd Nance will not be joining the band for their upcoming fall tour because he is taking time to attend to personal matters. Duane Trucks, the younger brother of Derek Trucks, will fill in on drums. Trucks performs with Panic bassist Dave Schools in the Hard Working Americans. He also shares a similar musical DNA with the members of Panic: Of note, he cut his chops touring with Col. Bruce Hampton, who also gave Panic guitarist Jimmy Herring his start.

Nance co-founded Panic in 1986. As previously reported, Widespread Panic will kick off their fall tour tomorrow night with the first show of a two-night run at the North Charleston Coliseum.

I'm not a drummer so forgive if I'm using the wrong terminology here, but does Panic play any tunes that AREN'T 2/4, 4/4, or shuffle time?

Every song I hear seems to have the same beat structure, which has always kept me from really getting into them. I've seen them live 3-4 times and about halfway through I'm wondering when they're gonna play something truly different.

Damn good band, but the sound gets old after a while...

I agree with you on this.....but I hope Todd is okay and gets whatever he needs to get straight, straightened out.
