Murders and car jackings are at an all time low in DC now but the bad guys are probably just waiting it out. It takes some other kind of intervention to remove violence in DC long term.
Good news though. I saw on CNN an expert examined Mount Rushmore and there simply isn't enough rock left to add Trump's head next to Washington, Jefferson, T. Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. Maybe that idea will fade out now.

If he built a monument to himself in Washington I bet it would have to be longer ( well taller) than the monument for GW. The GW bridge is in New York City and Fort Lee, New Jersey.
Washington, DC, Washington Monument, George Washington bridge, Washington State, Quarter, One Dollar Bill. Could you imagine Trump having that much named for him???? That would be crazy.
Since he was born in Queens let's just change that to Trump. John F Kennedy Airport and LaGuardia airport would then be in Trump. And change the Brooklyn Bridge to Trump Bridge. But at least wait until his illegal third term for that.
Trump said a communist is running for Mayor intent to raising the corporate tax rate from 7 percent to 11 percent to help pay for free city buses and city owned grocery stores.
That means taxes on The Trump Organization would increase by 4 percent if the Communist wins. Sorry Mr. President. Why not move your business to Florida?

I was 11 years old in 1968. I remember that spring clearly. I was young but also have memories of JFK being shot. It seems like we go through "seasons of assassinations". More of you probably remember the 1980 period where we had the Lennon assassination, am attempt on the Pope, President Regan shot and also Egypt Sadat assassinated all in the space of about a year. Duane can be proud of his dad and the song "Revival" which was such a wonderful statement about the times back then.
The song "for What its Worth" was about young people on the famed Sunset strip protesting a new curfew law that shut everything down at 10 p.m. Buffalo Springfield was the house band at The Wiskey. Protesters clashed with Police. Peter Fonda got cuffed. Jack Nicholson was there. Nic nic. And Still wrote the song.
@griff I was in the library at high school during a study hall period when the Principal came on the intercom instructing students to return to our homerooms.
The halls were buzzing with talk. Wondering why we are doing this before the end of the school day.
My homeroom teacher had tears in her eyes and told us President Kennedy had been assassinated in downtown Dallas, Texas and school would be dismissed until after the funeral. To go home and watch television as this is history in the making.
This was my first experience with the assassination of a famous person or political leader.
Later in the 1960's we had two more high profile Assassinations. Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King.
John Lennon was a shock and 9/11 was not only shocking but sickening to me. How could a group of men become so angry at the United States they are willing to murder over 3,000 people and commit suicide to get it done? I don't understand that level of hate and anger.
I'm now seeing on CNN Charlie Kirk's assassin was in a romantic relationship with another young man and angry at Kirk's conservative social views on gay and transgender people.
But the biggest mystery to me is how is it I had never heard of Charlie Kirk?
Someone texted me the day it happened and said "Charlie Kirk was assassinated at a college campus today". And I wrote back " Who is Charlie Kirk?" Somehow I had never noticed Kirk. Also I've never heard a Taylor Swift recording as far as I know. Guess I'm not only old but old school.
Duane Betts had mixed emotions about the Kennedy Center because President Trump took over the Kennedy Center and had a homeless encampment nearby bulldozed so Trump's elite guests would not have to see the bums and a smelly tent city next door.
It is a little heavy handed.
