Duane Betts

He blew me away when I saw him with the Devon Allman Project this past Thursday night in Harrisburg, PA. Wow. Go see these guys when they come around. Duane really does bring it

Thank You for checking in on this Jack_Frost! Sunday will be the day for me to catch these guys, I believe the last stateside show before both these gentlemen take their acts to Europe. It's been quite some time since I have seen either one of them perform..........Peace.........joe

Most guys that become elite guitar players do so by 25 years old. Duane took a big leap well after age 30, which is not common. His couple years as touring guitarist for Dawes seemed to have been a catalyst. I've thoroughly enjoyed him these last couple years.

Have seen Devon and Duane twice in last 4 weeks, show has gotten better. Devon is a real showman. Duane is just taking off right before your eyes. He has progressed so much since the Great Southern days. They did Where It All Begins last night in Kent. Wow. As well as Blue Sky and Dreams. The show is NOT just about their Daddy's old band though. A lot of good songwriting and some good covers. Can't remember a better $25 show since I was a punk kid at OSU in the mid 70's. Supposedly Devon and Duane are songwriting while on tour. Should be interesting. By the way, Duane's buddy Johnny Stachela is no slouch on guitar either.

Tedray,
+1 on Johnny - a very good player.
I noticed the big step forward with regards to Duane's playing around the time of Gregg's funeral & the youtube clips of the tribute show at the big house… seemed like Duane was leading rather than following.
His new tune taking my time is a good road song

Could not agree more. I saw him several time with Dawes and I thought he elevated the band. Many of their fans did not feel the same way. But he added a harder edge to them and was able to get away from Dickey’s shadow and establish himself. I saw the band once without Duane and honestly, lost interest in them.

There's no age limit, or even range, to guitar playing. That's specifically on of it's greatest beauties. Duane was killer in Dawes, he was a great fit IMO and I'm a pretty big fan of Dawes (especially Taylor's songwriting). The new guy they have touring with them is a badass too, more of a slide player than Duane but definitely in the same wheelhouse.
