Dread Zeppelin

I always enjoyed these guys when they come out in 89 or so. Everything about their Zep-Elvis-Rasta mashup from Charlie Haj to Jah Paul Jo is glorious, I find myself revisiting their first album now and then.

Love it! Obviously a schtick, but I think they did a lot of very witty things especially on that first album. Heartbreaker Hotel. Black Dog with the Hound Dog coda. Immigrant Song was always a hoot. I also like how they handled, or managed to avoid, some of the Pagey guitar work in a very smart way. Like the Heartbreaker solo in the video posted above.
A combination of the first Dread Zeppelin album and The Gourds version of Gin & Juice always brought tears of laughter when gathered with a few friends and some intoxicants.

I always really dug they're versions of Stairway and Bring It On Home.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Oh my Porkchopbob. That is actually rather good to me. Great Elvis impersonation and sounded like Jimmy Page's typical guitar tone.
I went to see Elvis with my mother in 1956. I was stunned at age 10 to see young women so shook up and on the verge of passing out. Mom said they did the same in the early 1940's for Frank Sinatra. I guess it happened again in the 1960's for the Beatles. Then later for Michael Jackson?
I heard the late Eddie Van Halen on Michael's Beat It on the radio the other day.

Can't have a Dread Zeppelin thread without a "Whole Lotta Love"
