Any fans? I'm driving up to Savannah (Pooler) to catch Doyle Dykes at Randy's Pickin' Parlor - the listening room adjunct of Randy Woods Guitars. Doyle is in the vein of Tommy Emmanuel. Usually plays acoustic but does some electric stuff. Just a better player than mere mortals should even be allowed to be! 😉

Show starts at 8:00. If you're in the area come early and dine at Mac's Barbecue, which is also located on the same location.

Edit: add this clip link:

Watch the next clip - see Doyle master a telecaster! 😉

Saw him in a church last year here in Gainesville, FL. He is just ridiculous and such a nice guy. Autographed picture four feet to the right of me as I type. Have a great time. If you feel like getting rid of your guitars after the show, think of me first.

Ha-ha! Great show in a small, listening room. I walked past Doyle on the way out - told him I had a bonfire to attend to. 😉

Seated right next to me was Fred Gretsch -owner of the Gretsch musical instrument empire and manufacturer of nearly every guitar that Doyle played. Most of the show was played on a White Falcon that Doyle seemed to be in love with. He played a Beatles (George Harrison) medley on a Gretsch electric 12 string. Did all the Chet stuff. I had the good fortune to see Les Paul at the Iridium, but seeing Doyle Dykes is the closest I'll ever get to seeing Chet.
I knew about his church background, so his "preachiness" at times didn't entirely take me aback. Threw a little Lee Greenwood type Americana in there, too. Great, great player though! One of those who just seem to exceed the possibiilities of the instrument. Awesome!
