Dickey Betts "Tangled Up In Blue"

There are lots of great Dylan covers out there, and this is one of my favorites. Got to hear it in person in back in 2001.

A dramatic segway from Bob's version. Now I can imagine people are thinking I'm being disrespectful and that is not the case. It's just different. Richard Betts has thrilled us with his music and style for a whole lot of years. I do believe this tune is one we should embrace.

I bought "Let's All Get Together" in 2001 and enjoyed it but the Collectors album the next year is one of Dickey's greatest solo albums. It should have had a major label release. And Tangled Up In Blue is wonderful.
Dickey Betts is a great treasure for anyone who is a fan of the Allman Brothers.

I think the best Dylan covers depart dramatically from his versions. Nothing against Dylan’s own recordings, just that his often skeletal arrangements provides a clean slate for other artists to build upon and interpret.

Actually I really like Bob's original. It is real nice. Of course when someone with the press asked Bob about Jimi's cover he said " Oh that is Jimi's song! I only wrote it".
This one is the best one! Do you think ?

If you like covers of Bob Dylan songs be sure to check out ... BOB DYLAN! His voice has certainly changed over the years and he performs re-worked versions of his classic tunes - often in entirely new keys.
Though it probably resonated more with the die-hard Dylan fans (like myself) - you should (or should have) check(ed) out the recent "Shadow Kingdom" webcast. This was not a live concert (as many thought it might be), but was a "staged" performance on a studio set that resembled something between an old western saloon and a Paris nightclub. If you DO like Bob Dylan - this was just mesmerizing!

I'm amazed that I've never heard Dickey's version on Sirius Deep Tracks.
Doesn't mean that they haven't played it, however.
