Dickey Betts, Ramblin Man

Hi there!
Here's a reminder that Dickey's "Ramblin Man" show will air June 14, at 8 PM and 11PM on Audience TV.
(Direct TV channel 239)
Enjoy!

Duane steals the show.

As always.
I'm keen on giving these kids a shot..

Yes Duane Betts has surprised me. He has become a very good guitar player.
Even Dickey sounds better than those cell phone recordings I listened to of that show last year.
Can somebody link Southbound from Wipe the Windows, Check the Oil, Dollar Gas on YouTube?
I cant seem to do it with my phone. I listened to that this morning and that Chuck/Lamar lineup, after a couple of minutes, really hooks together and just smokes it. Blows the roof off the place. As hot or hotter than anything I've heard from any line up post the original. The originial lineup couldn't have played this any hotter.
Y'all need to hear this if you haven't. HOT, HOT HOT!!!! It is a joy to hear a band play on this level.

Here ya go blackey, Southbound as requested, from Wipe the Windows, Winterland Sept 26,1973

Turns out Come and Go Blues on same record was recorded at Watkins Glen - pretty good sound too, actually listenable unlike any of the three Watkins Glens I have heard since I first found my way to this site ISO a recording of Watkins Glen. Where is the rest of it?

Thanks so much. About 2 minutes in that version of Southbound smokes. As hot as I've heard any lineup of the ABB.

There is an instrumental version of Southbound on the Deluxe Edition re-issue of Brothers And Sisters that really kicks ass. As good as the Wipe The Windows... version but no vocals to keep you from paying attention to everything going on.
Maybe someone can get a link to that one posted on this thread?

Yeah I have that CD. Think it came out in 2013.
The version on Wipe the Windows has so much hot playing. The drummers, especially Jaimoe , are smoking. Gregg on organ is hot just underneath Chuck's hot piano solo. Lamar Williams is rocking that bass guitar and Dickey is being pushed by the band and gets red hot.
It was recorded live at the Winterland in November 1973 and then the band was on top commercially. Their latest album Brothers and Sisters was number 1 for 5 weeks and sold 4 million copies, Ramblin' Man was a top 10 hit single and they were selling out Coliseums coast to coast. Playboy and Rolling Stone declared them the number one band in America.
The Allman Brothers Band was never that big commercially again. And they couldn't keep it going due to all the money, drugs and resentments within the band.
They made a strong come back from 1989 to 2014 but they were never as big as 1973 and 1974 again commercially. Where It All Begins 1994 was their biggest selling album and only one to gold gold after 1989. A greatest hits CD released in 1991 did sell over 2 million but that was tracks from 1969 to 1973 except Crazy Love from 1979.

Southbound instrumental outtake deluxe box. Works great for karaoke
