No, John I don't fault him at all. However, I would think that maybe that would have been taken into consideration when planning this jaunt. It isn't a secret that Dickey cancels as much as he plays these days. So ... I suppose knowing that ... then trying to see Dickey might be of importance ... because it might be the last time. My bad. If he comes back in May, I'll go see him. 😉

The one & 'only' recent time I decided to see him again & after travelling some distance we finally arrive at the park,grab the line-up timesheet,immediately check out Dickeys stage-time and....guess what..no Dickey Betts & Great Southern."Where is Dickey on the schedule"I say to the girl handing them out & " what times Dickey Betts on,where is he on the program?" and am told he cancelled out. Incredulous,Unbelievable! I say "you're kidding"!! Check with someone else & sure enough confirm that Dickey Betts has in fact cancelled out again.(I hope he was being truthful with his reason).

What a strange redirect. I have no dog in this fight of who likes Dickey and who doesn't, however deflecting to the NFL has more current domestic violence is an interesting non-sequitur.

If he beat his wife, then that's something that should carry with him beyond that moment.

I am a hugh Dickey Betts and ABB fan from 70's and I agree with all the listings Perry put here about trying to go to a Dickey Betts show these days.

But he forgot one...When Dickey shows up, there is no mistakening his enormous, one of a kind, talent. There are no subsitutes.

I hope you folks who make the attempt, get to see him. We won't have him around forever and he is a true master of composition and tone.

The post 2000 ABB were a good band....just not the ABB...they were sort of what the Rolling Stones would be without Jagger or Richards.

You can't replace Dickey or Gregg and call yourselves The Allman Brothers Band...who were they trying to kid...I think Warren and Derek knew that all along...what a farce.

So hope you get to see Dickey...his music is medicine for the soul...people can you feel it.

Wait, who was I defending?

I never claimed to "know" anything about the situation. All I said is IF he beat his wife that is something he should carry the rest of his life and that your deflecting to the modern day NFL doesn't make that possible situation any better or any worse.

I'm not sure why you are so fired up, but all I stated was the above. You can make your "my ABB favorite is a better human being than your ABB favorite" argument if you want but that had nothing to do with what I was saying. I'm not in the anti-Dickey, pro-Gregg or vice versa argument crew. I was just pointing out that one shouldn't brush off domestic violence. That's all.
