Yeah I got that a while ago and was debating on going but since then I have so many concerts to go to this summer along with several vacations with the family that I may have to pass.
Just bought tix recently to two Gov't Mule concerts here in Massachusetts on back to back nights and could have gone to two more in New Haven, CT in the same week if time and funds allowed so it will be a busy summer.
@bill_graham Is the rumor Allman Betts Band fell apart true? That Devon became frustrated that he wasn't getting enough spotlight time? That Duane Betts and Johnny Stachela we're getting more attention than Devon as guitar players? Is any of that true? If so it's a real shame as they were beginning to draw better than average crowds.
But the last two Allman Betts Band shows I saw I did think it was humble and gracious of Devon Allman to have the stretches where he played acoustic rhythm while Duane Betts and Johnny Stachela were bringing it with electrics and it's an instrumental or Duane Betts or Berry Oakley was singing and 20 or more minutes would go by with Devon as a sideman!! Yep I couldn't help but notice Devon wasn't getting nearly as much spotlight time as he did with his other bands.
If they have broken up it's a shame as they were right there so close. I'm not saying they were about to be as big as the Eagles or Rolling Stones or the ABB during it's last years but maybe close to Gov't Mule or TTB.
I was disappointed to hear Allman Betts went on "hiatus" as I thought they were really developing chemistry as a band and put out some excellent music. Also enjoyed their renditions of the Brothers songs they played in their shows.
I was able to see them half a dozen times before their break and they were some of my favorite recent concerts with the Allman Family Revival being a highlight for me.
I am hoping the fact that Devon said this is only a break and that they would get back together later this year comes true as it would be shame if the band was done for good.
