Pffew, the last half year has been hard on Devon. Lost his dad last saturday and his mother 6 months ago.
🙁 I feel bad for Devon he lost his mom, and now his dad. He puts on a great show if you ever get a chance to go see him live, go. I saw him open up for Gregg on New Year's eve of 2008.
Very nice interview with Devon about their close relationship. And now we have a release date for Gregg's new record!
Even better is that idea of a love-in for his birthday, in New York.
Devon is a class-act!
Devon will be fine. The torch has been passed. I lost a stepmom, then my mom and then my dad within an 8 month span. In the end I gained a lot of courage and a lot of freedom. I wish often that I could just stop by and see them, visit, just the small stuff.
But then I realized that sometimes you are lucky enough to have good enough parents who, after showing you how to live, show you how you might pass on in a good way. And that is the grace and that is the freedom.
Devon is a smart guy, realistic, and heartfelt. He will be fine. Sometimes in life if you are lucky it will crack you open in the most bittersweet way and leave you with gifts on the order of depth and magnitude of your love, and loss. He will make it through.
