Did he just solo in open and transition into slide on that SG ? That blows my mind...or was he in standard?

Open - one of the results of the ABB and the TTB is that Derek's rhythm playing and non-slide leads are vastly improved.

I'm pretty sure he always plays open, whether slide or not. I've never seen him re tune and only rarely switch guitars
