One of the newspapers in our city did an interview with Derek at Lockin, in a lead up to their upcoming show this Wed Sept. 12th in Ottawa. They are part of Cityfolk festival and will have Steve Earle and the Dukes along with a band called Kaleo.
Looking forward to this show. It has been awhile since they last played here. The last few times I have seen them its been all out of town shows.
Great read, thanks for posting it. I met Col Bruce once and he was a super nice guy. A good friend said the same of Derek after meeting him in Charlotte. I’m looking forward to the new album.

Yes, Derek and the whole band for that matter are just great approachable down to earth people. First time I met him was after a show at the Ottawa Bluesfest. TTB as we know it was just starting out no album at the time. Chatted a bit they signed a set list I was able to get from the SB guys. Then this summer in Saratoga, the wife and I when to see them. The next day was July 4th we stayed down for the festivities and they had their tour buses parked in the hotel parking lot we were staying at for 2 days. We kept running into them at the hotel patio, had a few laughs about the weather (it was real hot).
It’s those simple insignificant moments that really tell character and let me tell you they have good character.
I even ended up with Derek’s coffee on the morning we were leaving, but that’s another story
