Delaney & Bonnie A & R Studios (with Duane Allman & King Curtis)

One of the best hours of music. This is the BAND that Clapton and Harrison both lusted after.

I love the back and forth chatter between Delaney and Bonnie .

Kenny Gradney (bass)
Sam Clayton (conga)
Joe Johansen (guitar)
Chuck Morgan (drums Daryl)
Gordon De Witty (piano, organ)
Daryl Leonard (tumpet)
Larry Britt (trombone)
Jerry Jummonville (saxaphone)
Well it wasn't exactly that version of the band they lusted after but the late 69 early 1970 version.
Good band none the less.

Well yeah, Clapton and Joe Cocker had already taken a lot of D&B's players. I meant more the "Friends" in general, everyone was trying to get Delaney & Bonnie's rootsy sound.

After years of waiting for Motel Shot to get an official release on disc or as mp3, I said f#ck it, I need it, and bought the imported CD version since the price dropped on amazon.
I love this album. Duane's slide playing is some of the sweetest I have ever heard. It's no wonder so many musicians were trying to replicate Delaney & Bonnie's sound, this album is rootsier than The Band.

I got my vinyl copy here - it's a great album

in general, discogs is a great source for vinyl
prices and quality vary - my copy is very good

^^ Thanks for posting that, just picked up a vinyl copy for $7...........can't beat that. THANKS.

I wonder if "To Bonnie From Delaney" will ever be rereleased on CD? Since it is out of print, it is pretty pricey used.

I bought it on itunes, listening to it right now. It's wonderful. It's also available for download from amazon:

great video. Thanks for posting

yes great band....gotten cd

I picked up the A&R studios CD from Amazon UK and this version is the best quality version of the show that I have heard. I had an old version of it on CD from the 90's and this one blows it away.

Thanks for posting...never saw/heard this...love seeing George and Eric in the band...I have the cd of the A&R show-love it,but this one is a treat...thanks again, chasenbluesman!

Seeing Rita Coolidge in the band is also cool...always dug her singing and cool style...loved her with Kris...she's perfect for this band...

Also love seeing how much EC and George enjoy being part of the background, just band members...and EC,in a very low key manner, wails on the Gibson(!) 😮 Can't hide behind those shades,Eric...your musicianship is shining through...Whitlock,Gordon,Radle,Keys,and Horn...wow!
