Good for them... I guess. This show is at Jiffy Lube amphitheater. At best the venue is just another shed. At worst it is a traffic nightmare both coming and going. Cheap seats are around $100. I don't know what the lawn will cost.

Here are the VIP packages... I hope Oteil is getting a big piece of the pie.

Dead and Company VIP $420.75 without fees. These are amphitheater seats at a crappy venue (Jiffy Lube). This is what you get: Steal Your Face VIP Experience (Max 4)

1 premium reserved ticket in the first 30 rows -OR- one (1) GA ticket floor
Access to Loose Lucys Lounge before, during and after the show, featuring:
Complimentary Snacks
Cash bar
Comfortable Lounge Furniture
1 limited edition, screen printed Dead & Company Poster Signed and Numbered by the Poster Artist
Early venue entry and crowd-free merchandise shopping
1 commemorative VIP laminate
On-site concert host

For $870.75 this is what you get: Golden Road Super VIP Experience (Max 4)

1 prem reserved ticket in the first 5 rows -OR- one (1) GA ticket
Access to Loose Lucys Lounge before, during & after the show, feat:
Catered dinner
Cash Bar
Comfortable Lounge Furniture
1 limited edition, screen printed Dead & Company Poster Signed & Numbered by the Poster Artist
1 Golden Road-exclusive premium merchandise gift
1 commemorative concert ticket & case
VIP parking pass
Early venue entry & crowd-free merchandise shopping
1 commemorative VIP laminate
On-site concert host

I'm hoping the lawn will be $40 before all those fees.
That's the only way I'm going to bother with this.
Luckily we live west of Jiffy Lube, so traffic isn't as bad....

Had to choose between TTB at a very nice outdoor venue on a lake in NH or Dead & Co in Fenway Park on the same night. Hmmmmmm....... Hoping for a Angel From Montgomery > Sugaree this year. 😉

I just bought pairs of lawn seats, for Cincy and Noblesville, through different credit card presales.

With fees, pairs were in the neighborhood of $110 for both venues.

I have done VIP at other shows if I feel the benefits are worth it. But the packages being offered here suck. Maybe if the band signed the poster, it would be worth it.

VIP is always a ripoff, unless there's a Meet and Greet involved i've never even considered them, and even then so far have never actually gone through with one. Outside of the VIP, tickets for Dead & Co were actually fairly reasonable i thought. I got cheap pavilion seats for the Detroit show for $61 after fees, lawn were about $50. Would prefer cheaper of course, but that's about the going rate for a band of their stature (historically at least) anymore.

VIP is a misnomer in these cases.

There's nothing Important about anyone who is gullible enough to spend good money on such a crap package.

A few thoughts on these guys playing , still playing , re-tiring , it's not the Dead without Jerry , Bob can't sing , Phil is too old etc ....

If you could still work at your current job at 75 years old , would you ? If you could still make good money ? Sure you would !
All these guys know is to play , and make music . They've never had another job , not a day job in a deli , pushing papers in an office .
Is it a money grab when Mike Douglas , Kevin Klein , Helen Mirren , Glenn Close are still making movies ?

Are the Dead and Co , not putting out a good product ?
That's you're opinion to answer yes or no ..... Clearly enough people feel it's a yes and a tour is born .

Living in the NY metro area all my life , there is never a shortage of people to buy VIP tix .
Your talking about people making 500K a year up to Millions , Wall street financial guys who get a million dollar bonus each year .
Saying it's not worth it is also a matter of opinion , it might not be worth it because you can't afford it , but to Mr. Stock Broker it's chump change .

It's supply and demand .....Again, clearly there is enough of a demand .

tbomike,
Hey , they might not sell all of them .... but there all A LOT of people on this board that go to 10-20 shows a year .... pick your favorite , skip the other 20 and I bet your close to $500 or more for those 10-20 shows , probably more .

We all get to make choices and the Dead and Co are gonna keep playing as long as they can . Is it ok for Steely Dan to keep playing ( i saw them in a local venue $300tix ) they SUCKED ! can't hit a high note if their life depended on it , masked all of their faults with a horn section . I never saw them and wanted too , before it was too late .

I watched Dead & Co. streamed from MSG and I loved that show and thought they sounded tremendous. People can hate on this line up all they want. I bought my tickets and I'm excited to hear them play again. NY in the summertime with The Dead will be a good time.

Best post I've seen all year! Couldn't have said it better myself. Dead and Co and playing great and people are loving it. Haters will hate. If you're into it, enjoy, if you're not...don't. Simple, huh!

Thank You .
I decide what shows I want to see , nobody forces me to spend $75 to see Jimmy Vivino at Levon's Midnight Ramble or $300 for the Eagles or $85 for Jackson Browne at The Beacon .

I found there are A LOT of Grateful Dead haters on this site and I have no idea why . The Allmans have been doing VIP for many years now . There were years when Gregg was to drunk and missed his lines ..... Everybody made an excuse for him ... of course they did ..... But if Bobby is mixing pain killers and weed , tumbles over on stage during a show .... Well then he must be the worst person in the world , by the standards of those on this site .
That's the pot calling the kettle black if I ever heard it .....

it's just music people , enjoy it and stop complaining .
