Dead add 2 more shows!!

Fare Thee Well! They just added June 27 and 28 at Santa Clara!!

How do you spell, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ?

Quite possibly true, but check out their statement, as it says a lot about who the boys are/were.
Especially the parts about doing the right thing, considering the fans, sticking to the roots, avoiding higher prices and scalpers, etc. At least they listened to everything that was being said and did SOMETHING about it.

I'll wager there are more shows added after Santa Clara, just sayin'

Is it only a matter of time before they announce northeast dates now???

1- Music is a business
2 There's obviously a huge demand for it
They add 2 shows, more people can go, they make some extra cash. Why is that a problem? Remember when all of us here were wishing the Allmans played one last tour before the final show - what's the difference?

There is no difference.
Except of course that with the ABB, the singing is in tune. 😛

I always suspected they HAD to play some shows in the SF area. No way to shut down the Dead without doing so.
Since these shows are before the Chicago shows, those are still the "final" Dead shows, so that claim is still intact.

I'll take that action. Say $20 to make it interesting?

Rob agrees with Rob.
It would have been heresy for them not to play here, and the new 49ers' Levi's Stadium is 6 or 7 miles from my place. No, I'm not going to try and get a ticket. Not a huge Deadhead here, in fact I've never even seen them despite being 60 years old. That doesn't mean I won't possibly order the live stream, or watch it at someone else's place. I've really come around to the band in the last 7 or 8 years. It's been from hearing The Mule and Chris Robinson Brotherhood do the Dead, also a great local Dead cover band called The China Cats who do the Dead extremely well (just to give you an idea of how good they are, Melvin Seals sometimes sits in with them). I started to realize that by not listening to The Dead, I was being biased against a source of an incredible well of great material.
I kind of feel sorry for the huge demographic of Dead fans here in Northern California because it's going to be nearly impossible to land a ticket. And they'll be competing with rich folks all over the nation who'll want to be in on this. It would be nice if they could limit purchases to people with a Northern California zip code, but that is unheard of and just will not happen. Trust me, having lived here for 30 years, there is an amazing wellspring of Dead worship 'round here.

"We will not be adding any more Fare Thee Well shows. The three Chicago shows will still be our final stand. We decided to add these two Santa Clara shows to enable more of our fans to celebrate with us one more time. But this is it. "

I believe they mean it. It sounds like they'll broadcast it for the fans who won't be going too!
Nice letter they wrote to the fans!

I appreciate that what is left of the Grateful Dead - that those guys are trying hard to find a way to close it out. Loved the letter, got me all excited to put in for tickets. Many good memories of Dead shows.
Then I realized, No Jerry. Am not a fan of Trey (no negativity implied, he is just not my cup of tea), never could stand Bobby's off key singing (that's what the drugs were for - to get you through those tunes) and I would rather save my money and see Mickey Hart's band by a longshot.
Hats off to the boys, however, and wishin' that anyone who want ticket gets them.
peace out.

agree - it would have been a crime if they didn't play in the Bay area
it was a nice letter
