David Pryor, sax player?

A friend of mine met a gentleman that plays saxophone a few days ago named David Pryor. This gentleman claimed to be a past member of the ABB as well as the CDB and even toured with both groups. While I know neither band has ever had a sax player as a member, and I'm pretty sure the ABB has never had a touring sax player ( I would think Ron Holloway would be the closest to fitting that bill) I really have no idea about the CDB touring band of the last 20-25 years.
So, does anyone recognize this guys' name? He's supposed to introduce me to him in a few weeks and I'm looking forward to meeting him. My friend said he insisted that he was an ABB member.

Sounds pretty unlikely. Maybe he toured with CDB and they opened for Gregg or something, but I think a sax player touring with the ABB at some point would be more well known considering fans around here actually still know who Keith England is. Memory is a funny thing, especially when egos and drugs are involved. Just ask Brian Williams.

There was a guy named David Brown who played sax on Gregg's mid-70s tours and with the Allman Joys, which means he did tour with the Allman "brothers" but not "The Allman Brothers Band". That might be the guy. Looks like he also played on a few other Capricorn albums.

Well, unless he went under a "stage name" back then, it's not the same guy. His last name is definitely Pryor.
And who is Keith England?

What state are you in? It could be his maiden name. Otherwise I'm pretty sure he is mistaken about touring with the Allman Brothers Band.

One of the backup singers on the Brothers of the Road tour from 1982.

I finally met this gentleman today. He played in Nashville in the late 60's/ early 70's. He played with Charlie when Charlie first moved to Nashville as a session man/ songwriter. They became pretty good pals and he said he toured with him when Charlie went on the road after playing on Dylan's album. This would be before the CDB, I guess. He says he's played on his albums, but I can't find any proof of it.
As for his ABB connection, he said he played with the Allman Joys when they played the Briar Patch. Now, they had a couple of different runs there and Duane liked to jam, so it's entirely possible he sat in with them. He didn't say he toured with them or anything like that, but he did say he and Gregg have kept in touch over the years. (He also feels Gregg got a bad rap for the whole Scooter Herring thing.)
All in all, I feel like he's pretty much telling me the truth. He wasn't trying to get me to believe that he was the 7th, secret member of the ABB or the 5th Beatle or anything like that, but he did seem pretty genuine in what he was saying. Pretty enjoyable to talk to, actually. Especially when he discovered I knew what I was talking about. He perked right up when I mentioned the Briar Patch. He didn't think anyone even remembered that place. ( I don't, but my dad saw the Allman Joys/ Hourglass there in '69. How much he remembers about it is anyone's guess. )
