So, if Cruz was born in Canada and both his parents were Canadian citizens at the time, how can he be president?

But why run if he's not eligible? Why would the GOP take him seriously?
I know that there is a constitutional question as to what makes a citizen, but as the 1st article reads, Cruz's mother had denounced her US citizenship, so he was born to 2 Canadian parents on Canadian soil. If that is true and he has done nothing to become a naturalized US citizen, he's not eligible.
No big deal here, just wondered why someone who KNOWS the lack of eligibility would invest in running.

I believe there is a little known exception that allows a foreign citizen to run if he or she has successfully shut down the US Government while serving as a senator and is proud of that accomplishment. How he is eligible to be a US Senator is another trick question.
