Christmas Jam?

Landing page says news coming soon at xmasjam.com
Any whispers of the date floating around?
Thanks,
Mike

Usually the 2nd week of December which would be 12/13 and 12/14. Kind of surprised they are announcing something soon as the announcement is usually made the last week of October.
Now when is the Beacon Theater shows being announced?

That was what I was thinking as well. Just surprised the xmasjam page has been updated so early.
Mike

Well....10/22 and still no announcement on the xmasjam.com website.
Last year it was 10/16. Very usual and late.
Hope it's because of something big.
Mike

Will it be just one day or two?

Pre Jam 13th
Christmas Jam 14th

It is time to announce the line up!

I wonder why the wait to announce the line up?

Announcement is going to be made next week according to Warren’s Facebook page.

Tic, Tok, still no info yet. This is very strange. Wonder what big changes are coming over past years?

Some are saying the issue with Warren's brother is the reason for the delay.
Who knows.

Well that certainly adds a twist to it! However, in the bottom of the article Warren states that the situation would not affect the Christmas Jam. Time will tell but I would have to believe that they would have to announce it soon.

Morning of 11/12 and still nothing on the xmasjam website. This is getting annoying and ridiculous.
Checked the calendars and we've gotten info by mid-October for the past several years.
After attending 27 out of 30 of these things I know to block out the likely dates on the calendar but other things are starting to crowd in around it.....
Come on WH drop some news.
Thanks,
Mike

Yeah I pulled my plans this morning actually. I get it that there's a lot going on this year with everything with his brother, but sh*t, this is very inconvenient for the fans. Maybe next year.

Even if Warren was pissed at Habitat, they don't put on the event. He could hold the event and give the proceeds to Boys & Girls Club of Asheville or something of that nature. Not sure why his brother's situation would stop the concert from happening. The tradition goes back to before Warren was aligned with Habitat Asheville.
I will say this....maybe one possible upside is that it returns to the Thomas Wolfe Theatre. I went the final year it was there (2000) and it was one of the great concert experiences of my life. You could hear a pin drop during the quiet parts.
It has been in the coliseum since 2001 (I went that year for my second & final time). I'd go back for the pre-jam and a night or 2 at the at the theatre....even if the lineup had few national stars.

Whatever the reason I have to admit I expect better of Warren than to leave fans hanging like this. The website now no longer says announcement coming soon.

Yep. They clearly thought as of a couple weeks ago that it was still going to happen with their "stay tuned for an announcement next week" message. Odd.

Yeah and at least it includes Warren's statement there.
Warren Haynes shares:
“Since we started the Christmas Jam in 1988, it has grown in every way we wished for, and in many ways that we could have only hoped for when we first set out. After three decades, and an amazing two-night 30thAnniversary last year, it feels like the right time to take a brief moment to press pause. We have poured our heart and soul into creating this annual event and our commitment to serve the Asheville community and Habitat for Humanity remains strong.
I am so grateful to our many partners that help us bring the community together around the Christmas Jam every year, including the city of Asheville, Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, WNCW, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., CID Entertainment, all of our production partners, venues, hotels, and local businesses, our incredible staff and volunteers, and countless others. And, of course, all the fans who have supported the Christmas Jam. We can’t do it without you.
I will certainly miss seeing you all this year. Christmas Jam has become such a special time for me, my family and our Asheville community, and we look forward to continuing the tradition that we have all built together for many years to come. We are already planning a big show for 2020 and we can’t wait to share with you what’s in store. We will see you next year.”

An odd year for Warren... no Mule-O-Ween or Christmas Jam. I hope everything is ok.

It is not like he has not been out working. Those Last Waltz shows have been going killer. Several of the bands that did Halloween themed shows did not do them this year. That kind of ran its course as far as I am concerned. Certainly there is more at play with the xmas jam situation that will probably be better explained at some point.

I was there too in 2000. Row 22 to be exact. It was a wonderful night of music, right after Warren and Gregg did their finale together and Gregg left the stage Warren came back and said that was the end of the "announced program" unless folks wanted them to play longer....
One by one as each was announced, including a few in the wings I could see that hadn't played, the looks on folks faces got wider. Then Warren said "Merry Christmas Asheville, The Allman Brothers Band". Then they tore into my favorites Dreams, Not My Cross to Bear, etc...especially touching since they had lost Allen Woody since I had seen ABB in Asheville, June, 2000.
Nine months later I got a friend who apologized for not getting me a CD that I requested from a concert. The consolation price...a 5 CD board patch from this 2000 Christmas Jam show.
Now back to your regularly scheduled cancellation announcement....
My opinion is that firing Warren's brother changes the calculus on who gets 2020 show proceeds. Too late to change this year's so, no show. Who ever at Habitat fired his brother over objecting to the drug testing policy and being a known marijuana advocate really didn't think out the $2.7 million dollar impact since 1999, including $400K from 2018 alone.
I can tell you as a native to Asheville that level of charitable funding is not easy to find. A shame because Habitat has two neighborhoods near where I grew up and I can see the difference they made in folks lives.
Thanks,
Mike

Hey ABB1973MIKE,, would you care to share that board of the 2000 Christmas Jam? I’ll do a Blanks and Postage or whatever to get it! I too was at Christmas jam 2000. I was very young...just old enough to make a road trip and convinced 3 friends to tag along. We didn’t know it was sold out but fortunately a young couple I chatted up on the way to Thomas Wolfe had a pair they needed to sell. Turns out the pair was in the 3rd row lol....two of my friends got shut out and we’re FLABBERGASTED how long they had to wait until the show let out lol. Truly one of the most exciting evenings of music I ever heard. I had become a HUGE Mule fan around ‘98 and we were all still reeling over Capn Als passing. ABB, who were my first love were slipping as much as I hated to admit but Mule was still killing it with the now classic Life Before Insanity fresh off the presses. It was insane getting to see Gregg and ABB that close up....I’ll never forget it. Wish I could be that young and excitable again...

Article form the Asheville paper with a little more on why it was cancalled. Not much new really though again Warren saying it is not because of anything with his brother.

Did anyone find the Christmas Jam Popup Store in Asheville this past Saturday as promised?
At the address listed all I could find was a few local artists selling glass trinkets and clothing items.
No Jam memorabilia to be found.
Here is what the website said:

Thanks must have been sold out and gone by the time I went by at 5PM, nothing upstairs and the folks there knew nothing about it.

I believe 5pm was close time each day. I think it's supposed to be there at least until 12/31.
