There's a commercial on TV for something and Let's Work Together runs in the background. I hadn't heard it in years.

On the Road Again was in another commercial a few years ago. I had forgotten how good those guys were.

I love the video for Let's Work Together; all the girls in those hippy skirts. Grin I was in a diaper when that came out.

I love Canned Heat!

This was a really good read.

The girl who wrote it is as passionate about Al as I am about Mike Bloomfield. She really did her research.

Back in '81 or so my buddy had a full length video of some Danish Pop Festival form 69'or'70/'71, anyway if featured a killer set by Canned Heat it was kinda cool because it was on a big Lake and there were nude women floating around in giant clear beach balls, like hamsters in a wheel, they could propel themselves around the lake?? ONE of them crazy hippy thangs I guess?..........Peace.....joe

Love me some Canned Heat, super underrated. I picked up a double album greatest hits of theirs knowing only "On the Road Again" and "Going Up the Country", and was pretty blown away. They are one of those bands whose big hits aren't by their usual lead singer - like Marshall Tucker or even the Allman Bros with "Ramblin' Man". They played some great blues and Bob "the Bear" Hite had a great big old bluesy voice, and Alan Wilson had such a weird unique voice that somehow worked. They had a great "in the pocket" drummer too.

Love 'em, particularly the Alan Wilson years. Just saw them last May at a tiny little theater in Sellersville, PA and they were awesome
Larry Taylor is still a monster talent.

hey porkchopbob ,
can you tell me the name of the Canned Heat double compilation you mention in your post . I would like get it as it sounds like a great place to start with Canned Heat. Was it a vinyl 2LP set ? ( my preferred medium ) . If so, on which label ? ( there are so many CH comps out there. )

You bet, it was Uncanned! The Best of Canned Heat. Released in the 1990s on double CD. I'm not sure if it's still in print, but there's some really cool stuff on there, including a track or two with John Lee Hooker and I think maybe Little Richard.

Here's one you need. Hard to believe some guys from L.A. could be that much into the blues.

This is a very good compilation of the group. Available still on Amazon as mentioned and numerous copies on Ebay.

There's also the separate release of Hooker 'N Heat which (obviously) features a number of songs with the band and John Lee Hooker.
