Pretty good listen, it is typical "Butch"

Kinda eerie hearing Butch talking about Duane's wreck too.

And he kinda "dogs" Gregg saying he still does the pain pills and stuff.....

Typical Butch.

I didn't think Butch said anything that bad, he is just honest. Good interview, thanks for posting.

Exactly. It's not some secret that Gregg isn't sober and still uses drugs.

Hopefully Gregg will cut that out and finally get sober, and get it together to either reunite the Allmans, or tour with his own band. Or take some much needed rest to finally quit all drugs including herb, get healthy, and stay sober.

Oh please Butch is just honest. He is a self-aggrandizing old man who always inflates everything. Even the heroin he did was the purest ever. Yes Butch, I remember when moogis was going to change everything. The man is modestly interesting but incredibly full of himself and full of crap.

A great drummer though.

the only way the ABB get back together is if Gregg agree's to do a new album.

i was thinking about this last night. Gregg doesn't like the long jams, he prefers his own interpretation of his songs.

what if a new album was a double album, one was Gregg and his crew interpreting the songs greggs way and the 2nd was the same songs interpreted by the ABB?

then do a tour where the 1st set was GAB and 2nd set was ABB

just playing mental gymnastics while drinking. 😛

That would be very cool, if it happened; and I would definitely go to shows for those bands; but honestly I don't see it happening. Wasn't Gregg's new album supposed to be released by now?

Forget the content, I just started listening and wonder if we should all chip in and buy this guy a half way decent $10 mic?

In light of all that has happened this almost 90 minute podcast is one of the most incisive and comprehensive looks Butch ever provided about his musical and life experiences. As everyone is aware Butch wasn't one to beat around the bush. Lots of great comments and interesting perspectives. His looking forward to continued performances with Freight Train and its 3 guitar approach and wanting to teach a course on song-writing using Bob Dylan as a model makes his final actions appear even more senseless. I am glad that this around so we have something so "Butch" (besides his music) to remember him by. I thought his story about his experiment with heroin and its tie in to his own personality was pretty powerful. His shared readings with Duane show a different part of the brotherhood and that there was a lot more than just a shared musical sensibility. For any one who has the time I highly recommend this for a listen. Much more than a self-absorbed windbag or cantankerous old man.
