I think Butch and Gregg didn't agree on much the last few years.

It is clear Derek and Warren had been wanting out for several years and Derek in particular wanted to split in 2009 but when the 40th was the end after all, he felt a bit obligated to hang on but he and Warren drew the line at the 45th anniversary.

Also think Gregg was ready to move on. He feels a strong loyalty to the ABB and likely would do a reunion tour or shows if there is a push to do it... but was tired of the long jams and having to contend with not being the only chief in the kitchen as he often put it.

Dickey had always been a bit difficult at times for the band dating back to Duane's days. But he got way out there in the 1990's and apparently drugs and alcohol was a big reason but Dickey also wanted things his way most of the time.

Warren Haynes said in 2013 that it's a little odd having an Allman Brothers without Dickey because his sound had always been such a big part of the band and after the first couple of years his writing was too.

And somehow if celebrity net worth has the numbers right, Dickey also made a lot more money off the Allman Brothers than the others. It has Dickey listed at 40 million and Gregg at 15 for example.

I think we may see Dickey and Gregg do something down the road IF... Dickey doesn't stay retired.

So Gregg, Warren and Derek were ready to focus on solo and other projects and Butch's plan to put himself, Jaimoe, Otiel, Marc on the stage with that name which they say is broken French for "less brothers" looks to be getting the band back out there with the guys who are still willing to play in it.

Maybe we'll see Gregg, Warren and Derek do a little tour in a year or two and perhaps Dickey would be in on it too.

I also think it would be cool to see Gregg, Dickey, Butch, Jaimoe, Chuck and Otiel do a set recreating the Brothers and Sisters version of the band which apparently was the most commercial version.

Those celebrity net worth sites are just random numbers, they are not accurate. They have been shot down for years.

What bugged me the most in the final years was that they would all put time and energy into their own side projects, but they wouldn't devote any energy into creating anything new for the ABB.

Their activities as the ABB were limited to their playing live shows, which were great I would add, but their live shows only consisted of their old standards, and an occasional cover of someone else's classic.

They did toss us one or two new ABB tunes at concerts, but unless you were a devoted fan, you had no idea what they were playing. Yes, you could buy the Instant Live version after a show, but after Hittin' the Note (2003), they never gave us studio versions of new songs that we could play at home.

I mean, really?

For their to have been a new ABB after HTN it would have had to have 2 or 3 songs written by Gregg and that wasn't happening. From everything that has been said Warren and Derek were all for writing for a new ABB album including Warren having a couple of songs done that were performed live, but it never came to be. I don't think any of that blame can be thrown at Warren or Derek. It would be hard to do an ABB album with out Gregg being involved and having a couple of songs for it.

Gregg isn't really writing new songs for his solo band either. He's a touring artist at this point. Maybe some day he'll get back to writing, but it's been so long that it's not likely to happen now.

The Brothers. Les = The (Like in Spanish Los = The)

The broken French part is that Brothers should be spelled with an Fr instead of Br... Frers or Freres. I think.

In French, "les" is the plural pronoun for "le" - masculine. Yeah, like in Spanish "el" - singular, "Los" - plural - masculine.

I believe the "Br'ers" part is from the southern dialect - especially that found in the Uncle Remus stories Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox et al).

"les B'rers" = "the brothers". Butch performing with any surviving members of the (final line-up) of the Allman Brother's Band would be similar to the various spin-off franchises of the Grateful Dead. Similar product, different label ... some folks will buy it.

If Butch was going to play at a local club I would be interested in seeing the band. But to me the songs are just going to be Allman Brother Rehashes.
