Had a nice time at the Funky Biscuit for the Annual Allman Brothers Holiday Jam. Scott Sharrard and the gang were tight, performing the first ABB album. Marc held things down on the kit since Jaimoe apparently had back surgery recently and couldn't make it. Tonight will be Idlewild South, followed by Eat a Peach (which we got a taste of last night as well). Last year's shows were pretty hit or miss, but half of the guys on stage played these songs with Gregg (Scott, Brett Bass, Marc). It also helped they weren't swapping in players through out the night.

Glad it was good. Liked the video.

Scott is a real fine guitar player and he and Gregg became very tight.

Marc is like the late Lionel Hampton. Drums not his primary instrument but can shine when he gets behind a kit.

In the 90's I saw several ABB shows where Jaimoe would leave the stage or switch to percussion and Marc would take over Jaimoe's kit on Same Thing.

The other guitar player is Matt Schofield who is a very talented blues player...

He's very good. I had seen him at Wanee, and he played a Sunshine Music Festival after show at the Funky Biscuit. But I had only seen him fronting a power trio, which, though impressive, didn't really interest me much, so it was nice to hear him in a bigger band setting playing some meatier material.

I live in Boca and NYC and would have been there for one of the shows if I was there. Fortunately I am here and will be going to Govt Mule tonight after seeing the excellent Allman Family Revival show on Saturday. I will be back in Boca in mid-January and will probably catch the Berry Oakley Jr. gig on 1/17.

The Funky Biscuit is a terrific place to see a show. I noticed the venue is still advertising Jaimoe as I just got an email from them about an hour ago. They need to change the email.

I caught the Sharrod gigs last year and as I wrote a while back, I was disappointed by them. Sharrod was fine but I thought the band was going through the motions. In retrospect, that was not a fair assessment as this was a one off. But watching the video after seeing the gig on Saturday, it is night and day when it comes down to what I would call the spirit of the music. I think if Jaimoe has been able to perform, it would have been much different.

Agerst1574, I listened to the audio of last year's Biscuit shows, and everyone I know who went agrees they were pretty lousy. But Scott has done more of these tribute shows and seems to have roughed out the edges. It was a solid night of music.

The Jaimoe scratch sounded pretty recent, but you know they won't edit the bill since he's part of the draw for some fans. Maybe we will see him down here for the Ft Lauderdale Wanee Block Party.

I saw the date for the Wanee Party is 4/25 as it is on the Revolution Live website. No bands have been announced yet. Should be an interesting day as I am going to try to catch Blue Oyster Cult who are performing at a Seafood festival in Pompano Beach earlier in the day and then head to the Wanee Party. But I am curious to see who they announce.

Yeah, definitely waiting to see the lineup for the Wanee Block Party. Hopefully they build on last year's lineup - Marcus King, Jaimoe, Dickinson Bros. Oteil and Marc both live down here so maybe they'll join the party. Also curious to see who plays Suwanee Rising the week before.

I can’t help but think it will be the Allman Betts Band as they have a week of open dates leading up to Jazzfest. Would love to see Govt Mule as part of their spring tour. I also suspect we will see Jaimoe.

BTW, you should out the Main Squeeze who will be at Revolution Live on 2/14. I think you would enjoy them. I will be there.

I appreciate all the positive reviews of this show. The video was really good. I have a pet peeve with
Scott. Why does he rarely play rhythm guitar? Taking his guitar off, or just letting it hang for some reason
bothers me. Rhythm guitar is important and interesting, imo. I don't get it and it's a visual let down. Makes me
feel like, or gives the impression he's not interested in providing that additional sonic fill of a rhythm guitar?
Again, this is just me. One of the best elements in the Dead or Brothers is/was the rhythm guitar.
He did the same thing with Gregg, and I've seen every incarnation of the GAB, and no other guitar player
just stopped playing. Thanks for letting vent.
