Brother Gregg

Five years gone today. Time is certainly moving much too fast. Glad Gregg shared his gift with us. Him and his brother and that band were and still are a major part of my life.

5 years for Gregg and 50 YEARS for Duane.
Supposedly this is Duane's favorite Gregg composition. And to my surprise it has been viewed on YouTube OVER 13 MILLION TIMES!!

Gregg's Queen of Hearts is one of his best compositions!!
Interviewer: "Why couldn't you get Queen of Hearts on Brothers and Sisters?" Gregg: " That was a long time ago so I don't want to get anything started but his initials are Butch Trucks".
Gregg goes on to explain it actually was a blessing because he made Gregg so angry he decided to go solo and do his own album. Laid Back is his baby and playing solo is were he is happiest as he is the only chef in the kitchen. And the solo band he has now is exactly what is had been searching for, for decades.

The Big Interview with Dan Rather
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

@jszfunk Love Gregg singing SOUTHBOUND and the original arrangement best. Live in San Francisco November 1973 audio only. Man that 1973 lineup could leave a trail of smoke on the stage too. If you listen, play it loud in some good headphones!!

The Laid Back Legacy Band with members of the original Gregg orchestra tour mid '70's played in Macon last night. I believe the originals include Tommy Talton, Randall Bramblett, and Bill Stewart. Also I believe Charlie Heyward on bass from the Laid Back album will be there. My apologies if I missed any other originals. This would be a great show to see. Long live Gregg's music.
Tommy e-mailed me the other day & told me the governor of Georgia was giving a commendation in honor of Gregg & ordered flags at half mast in Gregg's honor for 05/27/2022.

@martind28 Chuck Leavell is on the album and did both 1974 tours. Guess he is with the Stones right now.
Jaimoe plays congas on Laid Back and drums with Bill Stewart on the first 1974 tour. When I saw a show from the fall tour only Bill Stewart was on drums.

we got to keep the music goin smooth.
Seems reasonable.

@robertdee - Thanks for posting, a truly underrated ABB song, band with Chuck was really different than earlier Duane albums
but they absolutely smoked.. Come & Go is another underrated tune off this album.
