Blues, Rock, & Tull - An Evening with Martin Barre

HOLY COW!!! What a frickin' show last night!!
Martin Barre Band put on a clinic last night at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta. 2 sets, 25min break, played from 8:25p - 11:05p.
Tons of Tull classics and deeps cuts, coupla blues numbers, Beatles. some mando, and slide.
the place was 2/3rds full, 175 people, and we stood right up front. Watching him from so close was absolutely incredilbe. band was tight; 2nd guit also sang, sounding the part.
If you have ever enjoyed Tull, this is a fantastic chance to see a TULL ROCK SHOW.
(it was nice not having the flute!!!!!)

Man this sounds fantastic! Looks like not much out west. Tearing up the east though, and great little out of the way venues. Gotta ask, where's Ian?

Ah, very jealous of you!! I love Martin had the chance to see him a few months back but could not make it work.
One of my favorite guitarist. Like you mentioend, glad to see MB doing rock flavored tunes. I really dig what he is doing
with his band. His vocalist is very good too.
I like the way he has rearranged some of the Tull classics and some other covers he does.
Love Story is a GREAT song, but I really wish he would have left the one alone. The original really spanks,
especailly the live version at the BBC.
Love Story -Song starts at the 4:05 mark I beleive.
Also does a great cover of Thorazine Shuffle
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Just got my tickets to next Thursday's show here in Buffalo. Really looking forward to seeing him at a small venue.

Bumped into Martin Barre once, outside stage door before show in Portland 87. Chatted a bit, asked him if the road crew was hiring. Very personable fellow. He was wearing a zebra suit. I mean, a suit wirh zebra stripes, not an actual zebra suit.

Thanks. I see Bay area dates in early September, may have to check him out.
