Blue Sky: In the Key of E and G

Duane's solo was awesome as well, but it is totally within the realm of possibility that there was another take where his was even better.
I wasn't there, so I don't really know.
That was an rhetorical question!

..."a" rhetorical question!

Always preferred it in E. I remember learning it in E and then trying to play along to the Cow Palace NY's show (not sure what year) and thinking "wtf?" as I was playing it wrong or something, and then realizing it was in G! I asked Andy Aledort about it, since he was playing with Dickey, and he said Dickey always plays it in G, so he can sing it.

(a) GREAT thread
(b) Stonybrook is RIDICULOUS
(c) Duane's acoustic guitar on EAP Blue Sky is incredible - subtle, beautiful

Agree with Leon.
I only play Blue sky in my band when Andy Aledort joins us - as he will be next Friday, 11/13 in w. Orange!
We play it in E... I play acoustic on it and do my best to echo Duane's beautiful supportive playing, which undergirds the whole thing.

As I lack the musical knowledge to tell the difference between keys - what key is this recent Warren w/ Jack version in:
Secondly, I don't like to annoint anything new a contender for all-time status until it's had a chance to sink in and newness wear off a little - but this particular Warren/Jack Blue Sky is a contender for one of the great versions of the song I've ever heard.

To me the ultimate Blue sky is an evening with..... Just Epic.

That Evening With version is the definitive live one of that era
always liked it better in the key they did it on EAP (am not a musician) -- was cool to hear it that way when they first played it in 2005 or so
at one time had the Sept 71 Littlejohn Colesium, Clemson U boot that has BSky -- rough sounding as I recall, but the guitar solos were Real nice -- they rose above the muddiness 😮
