Was relaxing the other night watching Billy Bob Thorton's movie `Jayne Mansfield's Car' and
was stunned right off of the bat by seeing one Chuck Leavell in the barbershop scene. He
has one line and nailed it! Later on Chuck played keyboards in a kids' band at a dance and
Duane Trucks was the drummer. My apologies if this has been discussed before.....it was an
odd movie but filled with talent - Robert Duvall (who just oozes authenticity), John Hurt,
Robert Patrick, Kevin Bacon, Shawnee Smith, et al.

I posted about this flick about a year ago.

You can also spot Kevin Scott - bassist of Highly Kind and late of Col. Bruce in the dance band scene. I asked Kevin how they got involved in the movie and he said that Billy Bob dropped in at a Col. Bruce show in Atlanta to check them out. Asked if they'd like to appear in a movie he was shooting in nearby Griffin, GA.

Quirky film with a great cast!

Fun fact--One of Billy Bob Thornton's first directing credits was the video for "Basically Frightened" by Col. Bruce and the Aquarium Rescue Unit.

Sitting in with ARU that day? Chuck Leavell, as heard on the self-titled ARU debut album.

I doubt that it what vaulted Billy Bob to Hollywood fame, but he does have deep connections with Bruce and other musicians. He actually had a band of his own a few years ago called The Boxrockers, but I'm not sure if they are still an active band.

I think you mean The Boxmasters and I'm pretty sure they're still an active band.

I personally think Billy Bob's a genius type. Really enjoy him. His bio was excellent, too!!
