Biggest Shock - Band Breakup,Sudden Style Change or Death in Music World.

Just thinking about this..& there's more than a few. I'd have to say losing 3 members of Lynerd Skynard (however its spelled) in one plane crash at their peak probably rates high on my list. They were never the same since.I'm not a huge fan since.
That along with Duane's accidental death (with Berry the following year) just pushing it over the edge. Big changes in style & sound after Berry left, with the piano added.
That was 2 Southern Rock bands at their prime with people only just discovering them & the genre, and such a loss!! It almost seemed like we were losing the Entire Genre of music at the time.
'The Wall' was such a change for Pink Floyd & upset many fans at the time. They went from a spacey & airey sound to Berlin Wall & Nazis. Who knows, that may have contributed to Waters departure.
Hendrix's death was a huge tragedy as he created that style of music & sounds and was 'one of a kind'.
Come to think of it,what a great period of creativity in music that time was!

The Beatles.
I was too young then,But they were the first name to pop into my head.

I think for me it started with the deaths of Jim Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison Duane Allman, Barry Oakley, Gram Parsons, Bobby Darin, Lynyd Sknyrd deaths Steve Gaines, Ronnie Van Zant, Cassie Gaines, ---- Terry Kath, Keith Moon, Tommy Caldwell, Toy Caldwell , John Bonham , JOHN LENNON , Lamar Williams, Marvin Gaye, Richard Manuel, Rick Danko, Levon Helm,. The break up of the Beatles was Hugh at that time... It feels like there was more happening at that time than I can remember at this moment .

Danny Whitten
Crazy Horse rode again, but it was never the same IMO...
Still my favorite band though. Oh what might have been...(think there's a song with that title on Neil's archives...)
