All-
This is a bit off topic, and it's been a good while since I've been around these parts, but for the sake of promoting the writing work i'm knee deep in, I wanted to drop in. And apologies for the promotion, but I wanted to give everyone a chance to read the project I just wrapped about small town baseball in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. I spent 10 days last summer in the clubhouse, in the dugout, and behind the scenes with the New Market Rebels, part of the Valley Baseball League, one of the many college summer baseball leagues around the country. Although, i'm a little biased to this one, mostly because of it's backdrop in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and for me, it's home. I hope you enjoy the piece, and the amazing photography that a great photographer friend of mine worked on. We've both wanted to do a story like this since we were young reporters, and finally, 19 years later, we made it work, for 10 days at least. The book may be later down the line, depending on the reception of this, but in the meantime, thanks for reading. Feel free to share on your social media pages, we'd love to have it make some rounds. Ok, the shameless promoting is over. God that's uncomfortable to do.

I have a minor league baseball background and am acutely familiar with much of what you reflect on. Beautiful prose and baseball just seem to go hand-in-hand, and judging from what I've read you have a gift. Good luck.

Enjoyed very much. Cool story, we go to the local college games and Baybears minor league too. Cool to read about Brett Gardner, my current favorite Yankee.

Thanks so much for reading, glad you enjoyed it! Not a lot of places like it anymore, and a great thing to see if you're in the area.
