AXS-TV To Debut 2007 Clapton Concert Video with Derek Trucks Dec. 17

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

You would hope this means it will appear on DVD or Blue Ray after all.
I wonder how well the CD sold. There seemed to be very little hype or promotion of it.

Several of these performances have been officially pre-releasesd. These include Tell the Truth, Motherless Children, Wonderful Tonight and Anyway the Wind Blows (with JJ Cale). They can be viewed on YouTube. Nice to see that there will finally be a showing of the rest of the performance (the powers that be certainly waited long enough).

Cool, thanks for the info, two of my fav tracks are Anyway The Wind Blows and Motherless Children.

Doesn't seem like we are any closer to an actual DVD/Bluray release as nothing was mentioned on Where's Eric when they listed the special on AXS.

Thanks for the heads up.

I was at that show. Lots of great guitar from Eric, Derek, and Doyle.

Here's a day of bump. The Eric and Derek show starts at 9PM with a late night rerun, there's also a ABB documentary called After The Crash and an Eric Clapton '70's review with both running 2+ hours.

DVD / BLU-RAY LIVE IN SAN DIEGO AVAILABLE MARCH 2017
On March 10 2017 - almost ten years to the day of his concert with special guest JJ Cale - Eric Clapton will release a DVD / Blu-ray of the event. It was filmed live at the IPayOne Center (now the Valley View Casino Center) on March 15, 2007. Live In San Diego With Special Guest JJ Cale has the two legends teaming up on five tracks: Anyway The Wind Blows, After Midnight, Who Am I Telling You?, Don't Cry Sister, and Cocaine. The show concludes with Robert Cray joining in on Crossroads.
This was the only show on the tour where EC and JJ teamed up. The concert followed the release of their critcally acclamied album, The Road To Escondido, by a few months. Remarkably, it was one of a handful of times the friends and collaborators played live together.
The DVD / Blu-ray will not have Little Wing, which was included on the September 2016 CD/Vinyl release.
The two video formats are currently available for pre-order only on

Im watching the Cream 1968 Farewll show on AXS now. I did catch thexsecond half of an ABB documentary just before it. Was that "After the Crash? Narrated by a Brit?
It featured a number of recent interviews with commentators i didnt recognize by face. It did quickly list names in the credits: Johnny Sandlin, Tommy Talton, Alan Paul, among others.
One commentator was a bald gentleman with glasses, a n d i think it said he was SRV's manager at one point.
One guy in a maroon shirt said the only reason you'd listen to the Arista albums is if you were writing a book on the band - i assume that was Alan Paul!!
One guy had a knit cap. He said he played briefly in a band with Jaimoe in the 1980s. Tommy Talton?
One gentleman said he worked on the Allman & Woman album. Johnny Sandlin?
Another guy wore a brown shirt and had thinning hair. He recalled getting a call to work for Gregg again in the 80s and jumpingbup and down. Maybe one of the road crew?
There was a heavy set fellow with gray hair tied back in a ponytail. He mentioned seeing Phil Walden trying to snort blow off the carpet. Maybe Willi Perkins?
Any IDs?

That 2007 EC tour was a favorite of mine.Derek and Eric are at the top of their games...I'm eager to watch at 9 tonight.

I was at that show. Lots of great guitar from Eric, Derek, and Doyle.
Me too'
I've a different take on this....Being an amateur taper, my copy of this show was circulated for a bit and I believe it was re-mastered by someone on this site. That being said, I had acquired copies of the shows before this one and was really excited about Derek & Eric sitting there and playing acoustics and trading licks living room style. After all, that is what had happened at those shows...so when J'J Cale's appearance was announced, I was disappointed......terribly so. The take I had during the show was people cheering and then looking at each other as if to say "Who is J.J. Cale"?

One gentleman said he worked on the Allman & Woman album. Johnny Sandlin? I think so, been a while since I watched the doc.

I answered as best I could above.

This show is awesome!
Right out of the gate, the first song, Tell the Truth... I was so in to Derek's solo that my 3 month old puked all over me and I didn't even know until the song was over!

They also ran a show called Eric Clapton:The 1970s Review which is good.
Delaney and Bonnie, Harrison, Dominoes...nothing really news for the faithful but enjoyable regardless.

I thought it was a decent show, but not really a great one...and I thought the part with JJ Cale was boring as hell. I watched it again last night and skipped the entire JJ Cale section. But then again, I didn't care for "The Road to Escondido" album either. And I never have cared much for Doyle Bramhall II...his playing/singing just doesn't do anything for me. But I guess I'm in the minority here because everyone else seems to have loved it...
It definitely had some enjoyable moments and some great work by EC and DT.

Got the vinyl set for Christmas.
Awesome.
I'm on my second spin through. Starts off a bit bland for my likes, don't particularly like the arrangements of Got To Got Better or Key to the Highway, but my the time they hit the truly sublime take on Little Wing, it's kicking. The Cale set is awesome. Who Am I is beautiful as expected.
Great album. So glad it was released. Two of my very favorite together. I
missed this tour coming through town and have always been bummed, and now I'm so stoked to hear it.

And you know what else I realize? That Derek just gets better and better and better. Dude has been a top notch player for a long time now but it's amazing how you can tell and hear his playing progress over time even after his "formative" pro years.
He's 27 or 28 on this I think, quite seasoned in pro terms and yet i think he's made leaps even since then. And that's no knock on 2007 Derek, just goes to show the guy's ceiling may be above almost anyone else's.
