Please stop this nonsense. People's taste is subjective. Everyone has the right to like any player they choose. Just enjoy the music without the who's best.

Yeah, I thought of Peter Green and Jeff Beck instantly, though I may recall that not everyone has loved every one of Beck’s singers / line-ups.

I certainly haven’t!

I’ve never seen anyone bash Angus Young here!!

Lots of guitarist threads over the years here. For the most part, good times.

One of my latest guitar heroes, the great Dave Alvin. Cheers!

This thread got me listening to some Bloomfield for the first time in quite a while. What a treat.

Listening to a record called Junko Partner. Here’s a review from All Music. Apparently not much known of this one.

Junko Partner arrived with little fanfare a couple of years after Mike Bloomfield's too early death, filled with sublime music but little information. The Akarma reissue remasters the album for CD, but retains the artwork, with the new sleeve notes shedding little light on the set. But this much is obvious: Junko Partner was recorded live, and not too well, in front of a small, surprisingly quiet, but still appreciative crowd, with the legendary guitarist accompanied by an excellent drummer and standup bassist, and a pianist whose talent rivals Bloomfield's own. They go uncredited and unacknowledged, as does the date and location of the gig. Wherever and whenever it was, the audience was treated to a fabulous show, as Bloomfield and his band leisurely stroll through two of his own compositions and eight blues, R&B, and rock chestnuts. Some of the pieces were seemingly selected and arranged to showcase his pianist -- notably the barreling R&B take on "Wings of an Angel," the ragtime "Walking the Floor Over You," the dose of "Rx for the Blues," and the swaggering title track. Bloomfield steps up to share the spotlight on the fabulous "Don't You Lie to Me," a stunner of a number that fades out way too soon, with his own songs "Knockin' Myself Out" and "Women Lovin' Each Other" equally spectacular showcases for his skills -- alongside a breathtaking "Cherry Red," brightly painted with his liquid leads and smoldering solos, these three songs are worth the price of entry alone, although a lighthearted take on the traditional "You Must Have Seen Jesus" is also of note. Bloomfield handles the vocals better than one would expect and the sound quality is the best one could wring from these old analog tapes, while the laid-back atmosphere provides a grand opportunity for the legend to illustrate that even in his declining years he could still knock your socks off. A reminder, if any were needed, of Bloomfield's ferocious talent.

Got to put the late, great Freddie King in there. Saw him several times at Richard's and Alex Cooley's Electric Ballroom in Atlanta. As good a live show as there was back at that time. Saw Dickey sit in with him one night at the Electric Ballroom. Betts was playing a white Strat. Kicked off with "Dust My Broom." Early '74. I got busted the night before the Georgia Jam, June 1, 1974 at the old Fulton County Stadium. Brothers, Skynyrd, Tucker Band, Grinderswitch. Saw an aerial photo of that a couple of weeks ago at the Big House. My stomach knotted up. We could hear bits from the downtown jail.

I think Johnny Winter is loved by Allman Brother's fans.... always been a favorite guitarist of mine.

I seen a thread here once but didn't get a chance to reply.... it was about someone asking if Johnny was closer to the band than what we've heard or read.

I've always thought the same thing from the pics I've seen of him onstage with the band and also from a pic I seen of him sitting on Duane's grave playing his guitar with Dickey sitting across from him.... was an amazing picture for me to see, I saved it somewhere.

Have to agree with you re: Johnny. Don't remember offhand which year he sat in with ABB for the last time,, but largely due to his hearing loss his performance waas less than vintage Johnny. But he is one of the few people who had earned the right to s certain middle name. I kept thinking who cares; that's Johnny F**ng Winter.

I've never seen the pictures at Duane's grave sight with Dickey & Johnny, never even heard of that before, pretty cool if you ask me.

I was at the Beacon in 2009 when Johnny came out and performed Red House, Highway 61 and You Don't Love Me, as soon as they sat a stool on the stage I was already screaming "Johnny $&@?ing Winter". Some people here did gripe about him but I was pretty happy,

Someone might have posted Leslie West's name, I don't remember anyone ever saying bad things about Leslie.

Johnny Winter also produced all of that late-period Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters material. You gotta love him for that. I think he sat in at Wanee in 2010 which was a pretty cool surprise since he wasn't on the bill.
