So just did this for Bham show Jan 22.

Enter personal into, enter payment info, choose best available, get 4 tickets, confirmed.

Never tells me where my tickets are. Must be picked up at will call.

WTH?

I've bought reserved tix to, oh, 300+ shows (?) over the last 25+ years and have never once not known where my seats are once the purchase is completed.

Chatted w them on the mobile app "Thank you for your patience. We will notify you with your seating assignments early next week. The first come/first served is relative to the order in which your purchase was placed (as opposed to showing up at will call.) As you were one of the first orders placed, you are guaranteed one of the best seats in the house."

Hmmmmmm....not sure about all that.

I noticed the change. Was going to do Knoxville but not doing that. But other bands have done it. Pearl Jam does not give you your location until you get there day of. James Taylor does it as well. In this case I would be willing to bet you are going to get great seats.

Interesting.
I get why they make you pick up the tickets at will call - so you don't sell awesome seats for profit. I had the same thing happen to me from a Bruce - E St Band show (long story, but sat in the 3rd row). We had to show ID, get the tix, and were ushered directly into the venue

I'm not sure why they don't actually tell you where they are.

Santana fan club pre-sales do not give you seat assignments, but at least before you buy you know the section and rows that they offer.

The problem with this sort of purchase is that for some venues, the band gets the front of the house, but for others, the members get the best seats. So you are buying blindly with no recourse if you are not happy with what you get. I am very surprised that the TTB would do this to their fans.

It's our first pre-sale with Applauze and we're ironing out some kinks. Seat assignments will be sent out at the end of the day in order of purchasing, and all the seats in the pre-sale allotment are good ones. However, if you are disappointed with your seat after assignment, send us an email at info@derekandsusan.net and we'll refund your purchase.

Applauze is working on real-time seat assignments, but in the mean time, for future pre-sales we'll make it clear in advance where the allotment is, when you'll be notified with your exact seat details, and what to do if you're dissatisfied.

Ordinarily I'd be hesitant to commit to this, but given my good luck w/ more than a few previous TTB presales, I'd probably go for it. I mean, if you can't trust Derek then you shouldn't be in the concert going business.

John Prine had a somewhat similar presale earlier this yr. All they said was I'd be in LC, RC or center orch, rows A-O, and you find out exactly at willcall. Was very happy to get center row C.

Usually the presales are a bit cheaper than the general sale ones too, so this looks like a good risk.

Well, can't beat this with a stick. Appreciate the timely response, TTB people.

We don't usually get these type issues in Bham - ain't the most happening concert town in the US for the re-sell market I don't think.

I'm confident it'll work out.

Didn't pull the triigger on the Kirby show because of this issue. I know that they have club members and they get first crack at them. I will be very bummed out if I get seats at the back of the house on Thursday.

I wish I had gotten in on the Richmond pre-sale.

I'm signed up for the mailing and looking forward to future pre-sales.

Bottom line on this show... the Carpenter is a fine, fine theatre. Last time TTB played the wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Rappahannock and then fantastic seats (4th row pit) for the show. I'm happy with Dress Circle for this show. It will give an entirely different perspective of the band.

Seems like this is a failsafe anti-scalper move; they should just guarantee a range.

And btw - better than ticketless entry. Got the wife tickets to see Cat Stevens (driving from NY to Phila) My AMEX credit card info was hacked; but I'm glad I called ticketmaster. I have to bring my now "dead" card (which AMEX told me to destroy) as the ticketless entry has that info not my new card. I came this close to driving to Phila and not gaining entry. Could you imagine?

For the record and in response to this earlier DerekandSusan reply, I just got an email from Applauze detailing my row e, dead center seats at the Alabama Theatre for the Jan TTB show.

Did what they said they'd do - couldn't be happier.

Woooohooo.

Interesting. I went through Applauze for the first time for TTB show at Grand Opera House in Wilmington and was well taken care of. Didn't know seats at first, but then some nice guy from Applauze named Joe called me today and said I could upgrade and get better seats for my two tickets at just half the extra cost. Just checked my email tonight and that was confirmed, along with my seat assignments, and they said the tickets would be mailed to me two weeks before the concert.

The horse isn't in the barn yet, but so far a good first experience with these guys...

Not so happy with mine. I got my email this morning...Row P, about two-thirds of the way back. I could get those seats during general public sale I would think. I truly appreciate the opportunity to get tickets in advance and not have to set a clock for 10:00 on the day of the sale, but I would think I would get a better draw than row P. I think I will try my luck in the AEG pre-sale this morning and return these seats.

Other than my seat draw, it was a good experience with Applauze though, their communication seems to be top-notch.

Just called Applauze to see if they could move me to better seats available on presale (I see many better seats) and the answer was no. I guess I will take a chance and get the better seats and email the folks in the thread above and see if I can get a refund on the presale seats. If I can't though, I can't sell them, even at face value, because they are will call only.
