I've been using it for about a week now. I am quite sure when I say this that the "deal" advertised on this site is the exact same one you can get straight from the nugs site. Nothing special there. Overall, I am glad I made the investment but were it not for their ABB catalog, I doubt I would've pulled the trigger.

At first glance they seem to offer a ton of brand name bands we all generally dig, but when you dive deeper, like for say the typical classic rock radio bands like Stones, Who, Hendrix, etc. it's the same old live albums that got produced and sold, now just in digital format. As for the Tier 2 or 3 artists, they generally go deeper like a Pearl Jam, Metallica, Phil & Friends or Railroad Earth types. There are for sure some major names missing like Santana, etc.

As for the ABB, I'd consider nugs' catalog as a complement to something like Spotify and not a replacement. The 2 have a few crossovers namely the albums and more formal releases, but not many live. For example, Spotify has the recent peach releases from 2003 and the Fox runs from 04. Nugs has only one show from 03 but from 04 thru 09 ( with the exception of zero from 07 for some reason ) there are plenty, like 10+ shows per year.

I don't fully understand the ABB camp's strategy here. Are they spreading their bets to see which platform does the best and will finally offer a consolidated library via one? I hope so. Sign me up when that happens.

Thanks for the insight. I have the Fox box on CD so I'll wait and see too.

No but almost ALL of the dead and Allmans shows are online now, and in excellent quality.
