I've searched a bit and have not come up with anything recent about how Jimmy Herring is doing with his throat/tonsil cancer. I see from the WSP website they cancelled some shows in September, but that's the most up to date news I could find.

Anyone have any info?

Thank you

it looks as though Widespread Panic has some dates booked for February and March, but not sure what that indicates

Not direct news, but the band has made it fairly clear they weren’t going to play without him I’d say, and they have dates booked for February in Atlantic City and March in St Augustine - so I think it’s safe to infer he’s close to a return to the stage.

According to news about 2 months old Jimmy is fighting stage one tonsil cancer and caught it early. Hopefully Jimmy will be returning next spring is the latest I can find.

I know Butch Trucks and to a lesser degree Gregg Allman were very mad and tired of Dickey in 2000. But I admired Jimmy refusing to be the first musician in history to replace a LIVING founding member of the Allman Brothers Band. Jimmy turned down the job of permanently replacing Dickey offered to him by Butch.

And at the same time Jimmy said Dickey's solo on One Way Out on Eat A Peach is one of his all time favorite guitar solos and the tone on it is absolutely incredible!!

But lots of bands have these ups and downs. Lots of them.
