I'm an Anders Osborne fan so when a quick show popped up for the City Winery in NY before she closes later this month I got my ass in gear and planned on rolling in. The problem started when a Union City garbage truck may or may not have been in gear, but it definitely rolled into and onto Rte. 495 W outside the Lincoln Tunnel and shut down the exit from the city into Jersey. It made the outbound George Washington Bridge and Holland Tunnel parking lots. I crossed over the George with no issues, but the cruise down the West Side Highway crawled. I left an hour early to no avail. I had hoped for a warm up band or the NYC 15 minute delay, but No Anders and Scott Metzger came on at 8PM sharp while my wife and I got trapped in the outbound Holland traffic just a couple blocks from the Varrick St venue. I missed 1/2 the show. We listened to the traffic reports heading in and Mama was trying to talk me into turning around and catching happy hour drinks and appetizers in Jersey, but I was going even if it only got me an encore. I caught the final 11 tunes all of which I included below with some dead stop traffic pictures on the West Side Hwy. Anders played a bunch off his recent disc Buddha And The Blues and tossed in a freshly written song that I think was titled Nothing Changes. Great pairing of talented Gents. Good times.
