Aerosmith's Joey Kramer turned away by security guards

He was with them at the Awards later but didn't play.
These guys are such a mess but I guess they have made a long career out of it.
Joey's book was a bit of a messed up tale. Tyler has always been an ass to Joey and guarantee that he is behind it all again.
Like Metallica, they go see therapists and get messed up. Fucks with all their heads.

Joey having to pay the full in drummer, when was in the hospital and later while recovering (practice and gigs both out of his own pocket) is brutal. What kind of contract did he sign?

That wasn't a contractual issue, that's an internal band rule within Aerosmith. They all adhere to the same rules. I don't know what kind of injury he sustained but from what I've read about it, the band 's main concern was his ability to perform up to the standards that he himself set. They were pretty mum/vague on what the actual issue with him was (seemingly out of respect to Joey), but it was pretty apparent that it was his skills that were keeping him out of the fold. Either way, pretty sad situation. Gotta keep your chops up!

Man, I am no legal beagle, but there has got to be a good bit more to this contract thing, does Joey still get paid his share for the tour?? and therefore could pay his cousin Vinnie to fill in at half price and he still make a buck from being in Aerosmith?
This here comment is out of line, I saw Aerosmith in '78, until then I was a big fan, it was the most poorly performed, poor sounding, sloppy and unprofessional music act I have seen to this date still!! Joey was the least of the problem
........Peace.......joe

Given last night’s performance, they should have turned them all away at the door.

Gotta keep your chops up!
Whole thing sounds crazy. Probably more than what we know.
As far as "keeping your chops up",maybe its father time has not been to kind to the physical nature of some drummers. Butch ,before he passed, I believe made comments of aches and pains. Neil Peart also was having discomfort from years of pounding the skins. It was rumored the reason Bill Ward was not in Sabbath, was that he could not physically keep up. I am sure there are others. That's not an easy job the way those guys went at it.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Living on the Edge was OK, not great.
Walk this Way was bad even before Run DMC got involved part way through and then it was awful. It would have to be hard to replicate that version of the song live. It was painfully bad.
The drummer kind of looked like a younger Joey Kramer.

I definitely got the feeling there was more too it than was being reported.....I'm sure the physical toll 50 years of rock n' roll drumming is no joke. It felt like there was more to the story that the Aerosmith camp didn't really want to speak to directly. Like there's something lurking in the background w/ Joey they don't want to speak about publicly. And that is what it is, and should be left alone. My take on what I read (and that's just exactly that, I'm certainly no authority) was that all parties were aware of everything going on and he just up and filed a lawsuit creating the headlines.
In regards of his pay, he is still a member of Aerosmith.....he's just responsible for paying his replacement out of his cut. That's how I understood it from what I read.

Agreed --- and that was probably the best performance of the night, which really says something....
Can't believe I kept tuning in to see if something good was gonna get played.

LMAO! That gets Laugh Of The Day Honors.
i lost track of how many times that I have seen Aerosmith. My favorite signed album is their 1st album. They loved the different Canadian cover so took their time signing. Everyone is so clear. I don't usually even care about getting stuff signed but it's cool.
That said - I have seen them at their worst and their best. Probably almost leaning towards more bad ones. Like crazyjoe, one show was the worst that I have ever seen a headliner be. Tyler was so wasted. Joe/Brad were out of the band. Crespo/Duffy were fine on guitar but Tyler and Hamilton were messed up. Tyler couldn't sing or stand. A mess. Tackled Duffy from behind during a solo.
The only person that was on that night - Joey.
In fact, Joey Kramer constantly improved over his career and he was never the reason for a bad Aerosmith show.
Their sound in the mid 70s thru early 80s was so bad live. It was hard to make out what the guitars were doing sometimes. But I was always able to hear Brad's leads much better and prefer his solos.
Still to this day, I hear all his notes while Perry is still just a sloppy mess at times to me in concert, I always wondered why Perry got portrayed as the lead guitarist when in fact - they both solo.
But I doubt it was Joey's ability to play that is at issue.
Watch the video The Making Of Pump. Cameras in the studio while recording the album. Over and over - Tyler treats Joey like shit.
Therapy messes with rockers heads. I think Brad is the only one who isn't a basket case.

Convenient of Kramer to have cameras there with him.
Probably 10 years ago I remember telling my wife, if anyone in Aerosmith is still on something, I bet it's Kramer. Something seemed off about him in interviews. He always seemed to want that Tyler and Perry spotlight that the rest of the band never got.
Hamilton & Whitford seemed content getting the Aerosmith money and remaining able to walk the streets unnoticed. I think that's why Whitford never got the credit he deserves.
My guess is Run and DMC's monitors were a bit behind Joe & Steven when they first came out because everything was a step off.
Whitford looked like Dusty Hill's long lost brother the other night. Not that the cameras even cared to follow anyone other than the toxic twins.
Joe Perry has looked near death the last few years. His slow morph into Johnny Depp's uncle hasn't been healthy for him.

My third time seeing them was in 78 at Cal Jam 2, it was poster child "don't do heroin" fer sures.

Yeah, that was all staged. We already knew he had sued the band and was uninvited (never invited) from performing with the band days before this ever happened.

The aging rockstar is quite the conundrum on whether to age gracefully or look foolish like you were still in your 20s or 30s.

LOL - Todays Laugh Of The Day
Then that picture! He looks like some crazed Zombie Scarecrow
He looks scarier than Alice Cooper and Alice is wearing makeup.
I have said it from the beginning.
Keith Richards should be in the Hollywood Vampires.
