AC/DC Frontman Brian Johnson Ordered by Doctors to Stop Touring Immediately

Al Barr gets my vote... TEMPORARILY.
Wouldnt want to see him leave DKM for this..just a fill n to close out the dates

The guy from Krokus has been preparing for this moment for 40 years.

Get Dave Evans 😛

IMO they should take out a page from the Journey book, do an extensive youtube search, and find a Bon or Brian clone. That way no new egos and no guy trying to put his own twist on the music. Just play it straight forward.

I doubt the Krokus guy could still sing like that, but if he could, he's the one if you needed a replacement of the same style. I doubt I go see it unless it was cheap.
Raplacing Phil Rudd with Chris Slade brough someone back to the band from their history.
Bringing in Angus's nephew into the band brought a family member who had played in the band briefly on a US tour before.
Both seemed OK as they weren't the stars of the show and had some lineage.
Anything here they do would be much different. Maybe a Bruce Dickinson type thing for a dozen shows to cap it off might be the way to do it if they are dead set on making up shows. Otherwise, it should be over if Brian Johnson can't return.

There is the possibility of finding a suitable fill-in, and some of the suggestions are possibilities for sure, but this has to be right on the edge of deciding that if Brian can't find a way with current technology and medical options to sing a few more shows, they should call it a day.

The Hives’ Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist Offers to Sing for AC/DC
Could the man who sang on The Black and White Album be belting “Back in Black”? If AC/DC are listening, The Hives‘ Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist has offered up his services to step in for Brian Johnson.
Earlier this week, AC/DC revealed that they were postponing the remaining dates on their current U.S. tour. Doctors ordered frontman Brian Johnson to stop touring or risk total hearing loss, and it was suggested that when the band does make up the lost dates, they might do so with a guest vocalist.
The charismatic Hives vocalist reached out to the band in a Facebook posting, first sharing his concern for frontman Brian Johnson, then offering his services if the band had an interest.
“Very sad to hear Brian Johnson can´t do a bunch of AC/DC shows due to health problems. That man is a legend. I would like offer my sincerest well wishes and get wells,” says Almqvist. “And if any help is needed I put my foot forward and say: HERE I AM! I have many many years of experience rocking the world’s biggest stages and according to others I am the greatest frontman in rock, plus judging from the reaction in Australia your crowd already seems to really like me. Plus, I have already been singing those songs since I was 6 years old” The rocker then encouraged fans to spread the word, stating, “So ?#?ACDC? please consider my application! Feel free to spread the word fans! ?#?HPAforACDC?”
As the live wire frontman for The Hives, Almqvist has sang on a number of garage rock anthems like “Hate to Say I Told You So,” “Walk Idiot Walk” and “Tick Tick Boom” over the years. And the bravado and confidence he displays onstage would appear to fit well with AC/DC’s catalog. For the uninitiated, watch the Hives’ “Hate to Say I Told You So” below.
Earlier this week, former AC/DC frontman Dave Evans also offered his services, suggesting he’d be open to returning. But even with Evans and Almqvist publicly stating their interest in filling in, AC/DC have not commented on how they plan to complete the postponed dates.

Marc Stoarce was on Eddie Trunks Podcast last year and he talked about the time when he was offered the AC/DC gig after Bon passed.
IMHO, Krokus "Headhunter "is one of the best hardrock releases of the 80's.
QL feat. Marc Storace - Highway To Hell
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Here is another from Marc
I think I would prefer him to Brian especially singing the Bon era songs.

Marc from Krokus as part of a Freddie Mercury Tribute.

Not sure how true all of this is.....

Source Close to AC/DC Confirms Singer Brian Johnson was Fired
The informant, speaking out only under the condition of anonymity, says it’s his loyalty to Brian Johnson as to why he’s risking his job by speaking out. “Jonna’s [Brian] a fab guy and has been treated like shit. He does have hearing issues but not as serious as they’re saying. This was just an excuse to fire the guy, basically.â€
The insider denied claims that Krokus singer Marc Storace was contacted by the band’s record label to possibly replace Johnson. “No, Marc was never considered for the gig or contacted by management.†The band is reportedly holed up in a secret location, auditioning singers to finish the remaining U.S. tour dates and beyond.
The source said lead guitarist (and sole remaining original member) Angus Young has narrowed the search down to two or three guys, all relative unknowns outside of their respective countries, putting to rest rumors of a possible mashup of classic rock royalty. “They’re not well known names. The band never considered any big name vocalists to replace Brian. I think they wanted to find a fresh new talent.â€
“The plan is to decide on the singer within the next couple of weeks, maybe sooner, reschedule the tour and get back out on the road as if nothing’s happened.†Asked if the band plans on retiring after the tour, the informant is confident the band will carry on. “No, no, part of this audition process has been working on new song ideas. I think Angus wants to get back in the studio after a much shorter break this time. It’s no longer a band anymore but a brand, similar to KISS I suppose, which is a bit nauseating honestly.â€
While casual fans will be happy to learn the band has no plans on slowing down, die-hard AC/DC fans are saying they would rather see the group go out on a high note, rather than tarnish their legacy by employing a karaoke singer. “It’s been hard enough losing Malcolm Young and Phil Rudd,†says AC/DC fanatic Steve Wilkinson, “now to see Brian go, well, how can you even call yourself AC/DC anymore? I don’t want to see them playing county fairs like Lynyrd Skynyrd, that would be pathetic.â€
Johnson replaced original AC/DC frontman Bon Scott back in 1980, and later that year released one of the biggest selling albums of all-time, Back in Black. AC/DC was formed in Sydney, Australia, in 1973 by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young and have sold over 200 million albums worldwide.
http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/jim-breuer-clarifies-acdc-comments-i-wasnt-quoting-brian-johnson/
AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson's close friend, comedian Jim Breuer, has released a video message clarifying the comments he made in which he suggested the singer was "kicked to the curb" by the band after 36 years.
Breuer said (see clip below): "Just so people know, I'm not quoting Brian Johnson. It's me venting. He didn't say a lot of those things. When I first saw him he was just down and sad and just saying, 'I'm just trying to work things out and I hope it all comes to fruition.' The rest is me just trying to lift him up, being funny and goofy. Then I just talked in a conversation with a friend kind of exaggerating some of those points. I had no clue the madness that it would create."
AC/DC recently postponed the last ten shows on its latest North American trek after it was reported that Johnson's doctors advised him to come off the road or face "total hearing loss." But Breuer said there was more to the story.
On his "The Metal In Me" podcast, Breuer said he saw Johnson in Sarasota, Florida on March 11, where the singer told him that his doctor had confirmed some hearing loss during the first, mostly outdoor, leg of AC/DC's world tour. According to Breuer, Johnson said, "[The doctor said], 'Now you're gonna go out and do indoor [shows]? I do not put my name on this. You're a grown man. You make a decision, but I would not mess around with this at all.'"
Johnson then went to guitarist Angus Young and AC/DC management to explain the situation, according to Breuer, who said: "[Brian] said that he called and let [AC/DC and Young] know, 'Hey, this is what the doctor said, but let's try to figure this out. I don't think it's as bad as he said it is.' Literally the next day in the press, it was 'Brian Johnson, tour canceled, he's losing his hearing.'"
Breuer continued: "[Johnson] said he just called and gave that information. He didn't say he wanted to quit. He didn't say he was done. He called with that information, and two days later, he read in the papers and heard on Twitter and everywhere else, 'Brian Johnson going deaf canceling tour.' A day later, and it was, 'Oh, we're gonna have guest singers.'"
Shockingly, Breuer added that Johnson suspects that he has already been replaced in AC/DC. Breuer said: "He feels like he heard from someone that they already hired somebody, it just hasn't been announced yet."
Breuer said that Johnson still felt like a "hired gun" after 36 years, and that Angus Young as the band's youngest member wants to keep going for another decade and at least one more album and tour.
Johnson has been the band's singer since 1980, when he replaced the late Bon Scott. He made his recording debut with the group on the classic "Back In Black".
AC/DC has been on the road since last year in support of its 16th studio album, "Rock Or Bust". The band has said it will make up the postponed dates, possibly with a "guest vocalist."
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Something never seemed to add up so these stories about Johnson being fired makes sense. As far as AC/DC being among the loudest concerts, there are ways to play loud to front-of-house and still keep the stage volume more manageable. Unless Johnson really was on the verge of going totally deaf, it just seems like there were ways to make things work for just the last 10 shows.
And if this is indeed a ruse for Angus to carry on with AC/DC another decade or so, that makes a certain amount of sense with Johnson being at the end of his singing/screaming career. But it's a $hitty way of ending things with Johnson. Why not finish the tour with Johnson as a farewell, or wait until after the scheduled shows to say that Johnson is done but the band will carry on without him?
I never got the sense that they didn't get along, but I don't follow the inner-workings of AC/DC all that closely. They seemed much more simpatico though than the DLR/Van Halens or Slash/GNRs of the rock & roll world.

Things don't seem right in the AC/DC world. I got a refund for my tickets. Instead of "loaning" Tickemaster $340 in the name of AC/DC, I am now loaning them $280 in the name of Bob Dylan. For some reason, that just feels right....

Axl Rose Joining AC/DC Is Reportedly ‘All But A Done Deal’
Wow , this seems like combining two favorite things but together it tastes like poo.
http://www.alternativenation.net/axl-rose-ac-dc-all-but-done-deal/

Gee - somehow this seems all too familiar.....

He couldn't sing the stuff 30 years ago and his voice is shot now. Problems singing his own stuff.
Why Angus would want to drag AC/DC through the mud is beyond me. Not like the tickets sales were bad and needed a boost.
Now they will go on late, piss fans off, cause violence and possible riots. Have Angus and management been living under a rock for 30 years and have no idea who he is?

I agree with the feelings below - hard to imagine what they are thinking/expecting with Axl.

There has been only one official statement form AC/DC and that has been about Brian having hearing issues that could result in total loss of that, and that the dates will be made up with a guest vocalists. No other words from them or Brian, except what was relayed to the public By Jim Breuer from his conversation with Brian.
I am just wondering if there is more behind this than what we know concerning Brian and AC/DC.
From what I can remember there was some discussion around the time when Black Ice came out in 2008 whether BJ's voice could still hold up and he could go on. I know they have cut back on touring this time around and the amount of time in between gigs are a few days. Maybe Angus is wanting to do more and Brian cant. That could cause some dissension. Pure speculation on my part.
I'll admit I was quick to jump on the band wagon about finding a quest singer. Intriguing to think about, and probably wrong to do that. I like Brian quite abit and his vocals. I know he is not popular around here, that has been espressed before. To each his own I guess.
I t just seems kinda odd that ACDC would kinda throw him to the wayside so quick due to this issue. My gosh , this guy has been in the band for 36 yrs and now they want a guest singer to finish the tour? That is kinda a slap in the face to Brian. Seems like they would show some
allegiance to him and support him through this time. Maybe wait it out to see if he can do this.
But like I said , maybe there is more behind this move, which could explain the decision on the band.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

When TMZ plants a guy in front of a studio to take pictures and he shoots Axl and the guys from AC/DC, I think the rumors are true.
Hopefully Angus realizes that Axl can't sing and stops it. But then again, Brian was a screamer and his voice has been less than at his peak over the last few tours. Plus Angus has always been so much louder than everyone else in the band, maybe he can't hear them well and doesn't care.
Years ago while talking with their crew, they told me the one directive for the sound was Angus loud. I prefer a balance myself.

Yeah, when I see Axl in the band I will buy it.
IF hei s I am sure the ground rules would have been laid with Mr Rose, given his history. At least you think they would.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Did you know about these photos C mule? Just found them. If you did not kinda funny you just mentioned something about TMZ. 😛

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

He has had ground rues with every promoter there is and didn't follow a single time. He has mental health issues. Absolute pain in the butt to deal with. Prima Donna without the talent.
He pays out a ton in OT for all the late shows. Keeps his guys and the local union hands there for 18+ hours. I know local guys who love when G&R played here. They went on around 1 AM. Already 2 hours of OT and the show hasn't even started. Depending on the job, these trade guys are not cheap. My buddy cleared over $4000 working at double time and a half and he only works at the beginning of setup and the end. Everything in between is gravy for him. Even the crew that sets up chairs and clean up cleared $1000.
No wonder Axl wanted all the other guys out of G&R, he uses their cut to pay the crews OT.
Deal with this moron for 2 minutes and you will want to kick his a*s.
When they went on that late, they had two opening acts that were done by 9:30 (even they all started late) so there was 3.5 hours of nothing until Axl decided it was time. Leave 18000 fans just sitting around.
Cost the city a fortune too which they sued over. Extra buses added for concert with OT spent on all drivers and crew and they never got used as they split at midnight. Then chaos when the show ends and no way for many to get home.

Hey C Mule, check your PM's if you get a chance, thanks.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Thinking about this, there is no way they can expect Axl to handle all the dates outstanding especially with his GnR obligations. I wouldn't be surprised if they have him handle a show or two and have someone else covering the remainder.

Those were the pics that I was talking about. No coincidence there. The funny part is all the AC/DC guys look like they had a LONG day.
