Wow, never knew John Belushi joined ABB onstage. Anyone know who the harp player is? My friend who sent me this wanted to know. I suspect it's Thom Doucette but not certain.
That is Jim Essry on harp. Gregg Allman saw Jim play and invited him to jam with the band. Gregg then invited Jim to become a member of the band with the other three founders in agreement.
On 1980's Reach For The Sky Jim is listed as a member and pictured with the band. But in 1981 Jim and Jaimoe were no longer with the band. I can't remember if I ever knew why Jim left or was let go.

Yeah, Jim Essery was all over Enlightened Rogues and that tour in 79-80. Toured with Gregg in the early 1980s too. I believe he just passed away about 5 years ago, was a fixture in the St Augustine music scene.
