I had noticed the second link a few days ago and I couldn't believe the release of "Shades of Two Worlds" was 30 years ago.

I'm not too sure why sales weren't better, it had some strong tracks and good performances.

If I recall correctly, there wasn't really a radio friendly song on it. As I've mentioned it was more of a throwback to the original ABB sound to me but I don't recall anything getting on the radio. Their releases before and after had stuff on the radio. Where it all Begins got me back into the band in 1993, 1994, whatever it was. Great album.

@lee That is correct Lee. Where It All Begins had Nobody To Run With Anymore on the radio and was their first new album to go gold ( 500 thousand plus copies) since Enlightened Rouges in 1979.

Shades sold about 360 thousand copies. Seven Turns was just shy of 500 thousand and did sell over 500 thousand worldwide earning a special gold record from Epic. It had Good Clean Fun and Seven Turns on the radio and both were played a lot.

2003's Hitting The Note only sold about 200 thousand copies unfortunately but Firing Line got some airplay but it didn't help much.

If a new band today could sell 200 thousand copies, it would be a big success. Warren Haynes mentioned in a recent interview that bands are in the era of the missing zero now. If a band usually sold 500 thousand copies, today it would be 50 thousand. Subtract one zero.

It will be interesting to see if the Eagles or Rolling Stones are affected like that too if they ever have something new. 100 thousand instead of 1 million.
