"Restoration: The 1986 New York Reunion Broadcast"

This title will be released on August 28, 2015.

In 1986 The Allman Brothers Band didn t even exist. After the disappointment of two commercially unsuccessful albums for Arista Records in the early 80s, the Allmans had disbanded in 1982, their members having dispersed to pursue alternative projects. The collapse of the Allman Brothers careers is one of the more spectacular episodes in 80s music. The band members had made and lost a fortune, struggled relentlessly with alcohol, drugs and internecine conflict, and finally fallen from fashion and favour, with Gregg unable to find a single record label willing to offer him a contract. That changed in 1987 when an unexpected hit single for Gregg Allman, I m No Angel , proved to be the catalyst for revival and a full-blown Allman Brothers reunion followed in 89, carrying the band into their Indian summer during the 90s and 2000s. This show comes from a rare, one-off reunion of the band just a year before I m No Angel . On the 31st of October 1986 The Allman Brothers Band played the Crack-Down benefit organised by famed impresario Bill Graham and held at New York s Madison Square Garden. The Allmans set is notable not just for the rarity of a performance during this period, but because it features the return of Chuck Leavell to the band s line-up. Having officially left the group in 1976, Leavell did not participate in any of the subsequent reunions in 79 and 89, preferring to remain with his own outfit, Sea Level . Here he joins his former band mates and special guest Paul Butterfield for a searing performance of Allman Brothers Band standards, broadcast live at the time on the radio station WNEW, it s a rare and fascinating document of the group just as they were on the cusp of a full-blown revival, an essential recording for all fans of Southern Rock s finest.

Looks like another radio broadcast release. Lots of not really legit releases have been coming out lately in from interesting non United States "record labels".

These things are all over Amazon UK's site for several different bands including Tom Petty, Neil Young and the Black Crowes.

It looks like the bootleg market is having a resurgence.

I was there so may be tempted by this one as a souvenir.

It doesn't seem to include the encore jam with Carlos Santana though.

There is a video of this 10/31/86 performance at the below link. The video quality isn't great though. Does anyone have a better copy and want to trade?
